* \u00a0Globally spirit sales barely grew in 2013<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, after a growth of 6,5% between 2007 – 2011. Vodka is the largest selling spirit category, at 496 million cases. \u00a0Whisky\/whiskey sales grew the fastest, and stand at 361 million cases. Rum sales were 146 million, a decrease on the year prior. \u00a0Whilst the largest market for spirits is Asia, at 1,9 billion cases, growth was minimal.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 More than 70 World Design Capital 2014 projects are on display in the Civic Centre as the project reaches its halfway mark, reports the Cape Times<\/strong>. \u00a0The projects on display include the MyCiTi Bus, Green Point Urban Park, and the Buitengracht Pedestrian Bridge. \u00a0There is no entrance fee to view the display, which runs until the end of this year.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Millennials will be the travelers of the future<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, being the biggest tourism spenders in the next 5 – 10 years, and already represent one third of business travel expenses. \u00a0Born between the 1980s and 2000, these travelers are tech savvy, and less interested in the beauty of a destination, and more in its culture, wanting authentic experiences.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0Haute Cabri\u00e8re is celebrating 20 years of making its Chardonnay Pinot Noir, a unique blend first made by Achim von Arnim. \u00a0Winemaker and son Takuan von Arnim made the 2014 vintage for the first time. \u00a0The blend proportion is Chardonnay dominant, at 60%. * \u00a0The celebration of the opening of GetWine new warehouse in Durham Road in Salt River<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, was a huge success, says owner Johan Wegner. Operating as Van Riebeeck Liquors, and having bought Rubin’s Liquors, and supplying the corporate market in particular, new premises were necessary. \u00a0Close to 200 free pizzas made by Caf\u00e9\u00a0Chameleon on the pavement outside, and 225 bottles of wine made by such leading wine estates as Ken Forrester, Neil Ellis, Cederberg, AA Badenhorst, \u00a0and Graham Beck, were tasted. \u00a0Discounts offered led to brisk sales.<\/p>\n
