* \u00a0 While international sporting events boost tourism to South Africa, our country has a great potential to increase tourism spend. \u00a0Two constraints to tourism income<\/strong><\/span><\/a> have been identified: the perceptions about crime, created through media reports; and the negative publicity relating to the new Immigration Regulations, making it far more onerous for international tourists to visit our country, especially if they have children.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Charlize Theron and Sean Penn were seen at the Mount Nelson Hotel with co-star Javier Bardem on Friday evening, after which they had dinner at Duchess of Wisbeach in Sea Point.<\/strong><\/span><\/a> \u00a0Filming of their ‘The Last Face<\/em>‘ movie is reported by the\u00a0Weekend Argus<\/strong>\u00a0to commence next month. \u00a0 Wedding bells are said to be ringing for a South African wedding of the couple later this year.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 The\u00a0Sunday Times<\/strong>\u00a0reported today that a number of other top actors are in Cape Town to film movies, including Sacha Baron Cohen (of ‘Borat’<\/em> fame) who is shooting a football hooligan movie ‘Grimsby’<\/em> here, with his wife Isla Fisher and Penelope Cruz (wife of Javier Bardem). \u00a0Colin Firth will also be in town soon, to produce ‘Eye in the Sky<\/em>‘, and so will Kristen Stewart, who will star in ‘The Big Shoe’<\/em> in October.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 SA Tourism Chairman \u00a0Frank Kilbourn has resigned<\/strong><\/span><\/a> with immediate effect.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0La Motte is hosting a Vintage Wine and Venison evening<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0on 7 August. \u00a0Cuisine consultant and Kokkedoor judge Hetta van Deventer-Terblanche will talk about the versatility and uniqueness of venison, while winemaker Edmund Terblanche will present the older La Motte wine vintages. \u00a0 Chef Michelle Theron and her team will prepare a 4-course dinner of venison dishes. \u00a0Cost is R490.
