* \u00a0 Platter’s is evaluating its 5 star wines differently this year<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, already tasted blind by its panel of wine evaluators. \u00a0Tim James, one of the Platter’s tasters, has explained in his blog today what changes publisher JP Rossouw has introduced, the selection of the more than 200 potential 5-star wines taking place today. \u00a0The potential 5-star wines are nominated by the tasters. \u00a0For the evaluation, additional tasters will be used, who were not used for the sighted tastings due to their commercial links to some wines. \u00a0Seven panels with three tasters each will blind taste about 30 wines, scored in silence, and discussed thereafter, one by one.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Dame Helen Mirren was seen arriving at Cape Town International<\/strong><\/span><\/a> this morning, to star in a film with actors Colin Firth and Aaron Paul, in Gavin Hood’s ‘Eye in the Sky<\/em>‘.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Chef and MasterChef SA judge Pete Goffe-Wood is a new SecretEATS chef<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, having recently cooked at the by-invitation-only dinner held at furniture showroom Leon at CCXIX 12 Rooms Exhibition, which is a project of Cape Town hosting World Design Capital 2014. Chef Pete’s dishes were paired with Radford Dale wines. \u00a0SecretEATS has joined StreetSmart South Africa, R5 of each ticket sold going to the charity supporting underprivileged persons in Cape Town. * \u00a0 De Grendel has received five gold, silver, and bronze medals for its wines at the China Wine and Spirits Association competition, held in Hong Kong last month. Gold awards went to De Grendel Rubaiyat 2011 and its Pinot Noir 2012, while De Koetshuis Sauvignon Blanc 2014 won silver, and the Merlot 2012 and Shiraz 2012 won Bronze. \u00a0De Grendel entered its wines for the first time, and won for each of its five wines.
