* \u00a0 Africa now has 100 million Facebook users<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, still only half of the number of internet users on the continent. \u00a0The majority of Facebook users access the site via mobile phone. \u00a0 While the growth in Social Media usage in Africa is massive, it is still very costly.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 The Open Book Festival<\/strong><\/span><\/a> will run at The Fugard Theatre for the second year running, from 17 – 21 September, with authors from 12 countries attending. \u00a0Local authors will include Wilbur Smith, Zakes Mda, and Zelda la Grange.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Shock news is the resignation with immediate effect of SA Tourism Chief Marketing Officer Jan Hutton.<\/strong><\/span><\/a> No reasons are provided, but the suddenness of the resignation is ominous. \u00a0The industry has expressed its regret<\/strong><\/span><\/a> about the resignation of this dynamic marketer of our country.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0It’s a bad week for flying in Europe. \u00a0On Monday a bomb scare at London Luton airport caused the cancellation of all EasyJet flights for the rest of the day, leaving most passengers without flights for the same or following day. \u00a0Three of five Heathrow terminals<\/strong><\/a> will be inoperable for 24 hours on Friday, due to a planned ground handlers’ strike. \u00a0 Most Lufthansa flights to\/from Munich will be cancelled<\/strong> <\/a>until 18h00 today, with a likelihood of some cancellations tomorrow morning as well.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Anthonij Rupert Wines has redesigned the labels for its range of seven Protea wines. \u00a0The design aims to ‘upcycling in mind, creating unique and attractive features in-and around the home after the wine has been enjoyed’. \u00a0<\/em>The design by Mark Eisen was a winner at the 2014 WorldStar International Award for Design in the Beverages category.\u00a0<\/em>The cost of the white wines is R49,99, and R 59.99 for the red wines, if bought at the wine estate in Franschhoek.
