* \u00a0 An increasing number of Indian TV shows and series is being filmed in countries outside of India, and\u00a0South Africa is one of the countries benefiting<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0too (see the\u00a0promo for Dare2Dance, shot in Cape Town<\/strong><\/span><\/a>). \u00a0SA Tourism Country Manager for India Hannelie Slabber said: ‘We have seen a great increase in films and television channels approaching us for associations over the last few years’<\/em>. \u00a0Most of the shooting has been in Gauteng, the Western Cape including the Garden Route, and KwaZulu-Natal, while the Kruger National Park is a popular film location too.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Domaine des Dieux won the 14th Amorim Cap Classique Challenge 2014<\/strong><\/span><\/a> with its Claudia Brut 2009, a Pinot Noir Chardonnay blend, for Best Brut Blend and Best Producer against 100 other Cap Classique entries. \u00a0 Graham Beck and Lord both took the top honours in the Blended Brut category. \u00a0The former MCC producer also won Best Vintage (2009) and Best Non-Vintage Ros\u00e9. \u00a0 Laborie won Best Vintage Blanc de Blancs (2010), and Colmant the Best Blanc de Blanc non-Vintage category. \u00a0Simonsig won the Museum Class for its Kaapse Vonkel 2004. \u00a0Judging panel chairman Allan Mullins of Woolworths said that the sparkling wines showed more consistency this year, and were of a higher quality. Mullins was named the inaugural recipient of the Frans Malan Legacy Award.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 South Africa has dropped in its rank on World \u00a0Economic Forum Global Competitiveness Report<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, now at 56th rank out of 144 countries evaluated. In comparison to BRICS countries, our country trailed behind China (28th) and Russia (53rd), but fared better than Brazil (57th) and India (71st). \u00a0In Africa, Mauritius (39th) beat South Africa, while Rwanda and Botswana trailed behind. \u00a0The rankings are based on financial market development, market efficiency, market size, education, labour, business sophistication, and more.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 SA Tourism is opening a marketing office in Sao Paulo<\/strong><\/span><\/a> on Tuesday, a result of the good tourist arrivals from South America generally, and Brazil in particular, says its CEO Thulani Nzima. \u00a0 It is our country’s 9th largest tourism source market. \u00a0Minister of Tourism Derek Hanekom, Nzima, and SA Tourism Board members will travel to Sao Paulo for the office opening, and to attend the ABAV Travel Show, the first time that our country will be exhibited there.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Cricket star Gary Kirsten is linking his Cricket Academy in Cape Town and Durban with Cape Africa Tours, to <\/span>offer international budding cricket stars training locally<\/strong><\/a>, India being one of the source countries for this sport tourism.<\/span><\/div>\n
