* \u00a0 The Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) has announced that its profit has increased to its highest level ever,<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>at R1,7 billion, a 73% increase on the year before. \u00a0The profit increase was achieved despite the decline in passenger numbers. \u00a0The airport infrastructure is to be improved, without any ‘significant’<\/em> increases in passenger tariffs.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 SA Tourism captured attention for our country on Times Square<\/strong><\/span><\/a> in New York last week, with Hugh Masekela and Sindiswe Nxumalo, a cast member of ‘The Lion King’<\/em>, performing on a double decker bus to publicise the ‘Ubuntu:\u00a0Music & Arts of South Africa<\/em>‘ Festival being held at Carnegie Hall until 5 November. Masekela and Vusi Mahlasela are headline artists for the Festival, which celebrates the 20th anniversary of our democracy, and aims to position South Africa as offering more than the Big Five, in having ‘the most hospitable people in the world<\/em>‘ as well as the most resilient, given the country’s 350 year history.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 The Franschhoek-based \u00a0Bhabhathane (meaning butterfly in Xhosa) charity promoting childhood development and education has received a donation of R150000 from Mr\u00a0Analjit Singh of the Leeu Collection, who has acquired a number of properties in the wine village. \u00a0The donation was received by charity director Alistair Wood, saying that it would be used to ensure full educational enrollment of about 750 children 6 years and younger. * \u00a0 Two Oceans has launched a 2014 Shiraz to its range, and is selling for R38. \u00a0It is suggested that the wine be paired with a guava and Gl\u00fchwein ice cream. (received via media release from De Kock Communications)<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 The Season 2 winner of Kokkedoor Johnny Hamman and runner-up Marius Uys have delayed their cooking tour ‘<\/span>Cook and Travel Zanzibar’<\/em> to 21 – 28 March. Uys owns an exotic food destination travel agency ‘Discover Zanzibar’. \u00a0The two partners traveled to the Spice Islands to finalise the itinerary for the tour, which will focus on simple and unpretentious food of Zanzibar.
