* \u00a0 Bad news for the Cruise Tourism industry in Cape Town is that the planned announcement this month of the winning tender for the new cruise liner terminal has been <\/a><\/strong><\/span>cancelled, with a new tender being called due to none of the tenders meeting the basic requirements of the Request of Proposal. \u00a0Western Cape Tourism Minister Alan Winde said: ‘I was not happy with how long the process was taking anyway, and then when they phoned me and said they\u2019ve decided to pull the plug on the tender process and readvertise, I was a bit grumpy<\/em>‘. \u00a0New tenders are expected within the next six months.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Eskom appears to have made a plan to get more coal to the Majuba power station, where its silo cracked over the weekend, thereby allegedly preventing further power outages.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Crown Princess Mary from Denmark is visiting Cape Town,<\/strong><\/span><\/a> to open a Danish design exhibition as part of World Design Capital 2014, and to raise awareness for HIV AIDS amongst women and children in particular. \u00a0She visited Stellakaya, ‘known for producing the best reds in the region’<\/em>, and tasted their wines with winemaker Ntsiki Biyela. \u00a0She attended dinner at La Mouette with the LGBTI community, linked to her HIV awareness work. \u00a0She is in the country until Thursday, also visiting Johannesburg.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Nederburg has appointed Samuel Viljoen as its red wine maker and will also be responsible for the Fairtrade wines of the estate, to replace Wilhelm Pienaar, who is moving to Hermanuspietersfontein. Viljoen has worked at Domaine Serene in Oregon, Klein Constantia, Fairview, Longridge, as well as at Goudini Winery.\u00a0(received via media release from De Kock Communications)<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Nobu at the One&Only Cape Town is catering for junior clients, with its KidsOnly fish and vegetarian platters, consisting of ‘baby sushi’<\/em>, \u00a0mini pizza, and burgers, to shape gourmet tastes and teach the young ones to eat with chopsticks. \u00a0Available from 18h00, the vegetarian platters of six pieces cost R145, and the fish platters of six pieces cost R245.
