* \u00a0 The Western Cape government has committed R 2,4 million<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>to ‘preserving the Western Cape\u2019s culture and heritage and therefore is committed to providing continued support for them’,<\/em> MEC Nomafrench Mbombo has said, supporting the Cape Minstrels and Malay and Christmas choirs, and their Christmas Choir Bands March on 24 December, The Nagtroupe March on New Years Eve, and the Tweede Nuwejaar Minstrel March. \u00a0The community will organise its own Cape Annual Minstrel Carnival next year, after the City of Cape Town’s interference in the past led to problems and poor publicity for the City.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Australia has been using its unique food and wine bounty to market tourism via the ‘Restaurant Australia<\/em>‘ campaign to the country. \u00a0Last week it hosted some of the most important food and wine VIPs to its ‘Invite the World to Dinner<\/em>‘ event<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>in Hobart. \u00a0Different creative dishes were served in different artistic venues. \u00a0The organisers claim to have reached 400 million viewers through the event.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 First Thursdays is heading for Woodstock, and ‘Thursday Late<\/em>‘ will take place in the suburb on Thursday 27 November<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, from 17h00 – 20h00 or later. \u00a0Art galleries (such as Stevenson Gallery, Goodman Gallery, South Gallery), The Woodstock Exchange, The Old Biscuit Mill, Salt Circle Arcade, Woodstock Foundry, and Woodstock Cycle Works, retail outlets, music performers, and food vendors will participate.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Alitalia and Etihad Airways have received the go-ahead<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>by the European Commission for a ‘strategic partnership<\/em>‘, i.e. merger.<\/p>\n
