* \u00a0 The Bartho Eksteen Sauvignon Blanc Celebration held in Hermanus recently selected ‘the 10 best of the best’<\/em> Sauvignon Blancs locally over the past 22 years, and then compared them to 10 top Sauvignon Blancs from other countries. \u00a0The winning Sauvignon Blanc was judged to be\u00a0Fryer\u2019s Cove Bamboes Bay, 2013, followed by Diemersdal MM Louw 2013, Palliser Estate 2012 from New Zealand, Dog Point 2008 from New Zealand, and Von Winning 1 2011 from Germany. * \u00a0 Uber supports the Department of Transport’s Festive Season Road Safety campaign, it says in a media statement. \u00a0The campaign makes road safety everyone’s responsibility, to enhance law enforcement, and to increase road traffic safety awareness. Uber GM Alon Lits said: ‘Uber fully supports government\u2019s road safety initiatives. Uber is one of the safest ways to get around in South Africa and we strongly believe that our technology can assist the government and minister in achieving their road safety objectives<\/em>‘. \u00a0The Uber transport service is available in Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban, and in Pretoria. * \u00a0 The Peregrine Farmstall on the N2 outside Grabouw has re-opened with a brand new restaurant, in its 50th anniversary year. \u00a0A fire earlier this year destroyed the previous restaurant. \u00a0The new restaurant building was designed by architect Barry Gould, while Overberg Joinery Works did the carpentry. \u00a0Based on the apple barns in the area, the design incorporates\u00a0‘a structure of Austrian spruce and glass to give it an open, contemporary feel, complete with screed floors, chalkboard menus and vintage Hoi P\u2019loy lighting<\/em>‘.
