* \u00a0 The Business Confidence Index of the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry retracted by 2,5 points last month<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, to 88, and was also lower than in December 2013, and the lowest in the past six months. \u00a0 The economic future for our country for the coming year will be a balance between the crude oil price and electricity loadshedding. \u00a0The Index being below 100 is a ‘matter of grave concern<\/em>‘.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 A survey conducted by the Cape Town Central City Improvement District reflects a young owner profile, being 25 – 34 years old; \u00a0plan to live in the city for at least another 4 years; enjoy visiting \u00a0The Company’s Garden, St George’s Mall, Greenmarket Square, The Fan Walk, and Church Square; \u00a084% visit a city coffee shop at least once a week; 68% visit a restaurant in the city centre at least once a week; \u00a0and 66% live 3 km or less from their work. \u00a0(source: City Views<\/strong>)<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 South African Stormhoek Wines is the Official Wine Partner for the 40000 nautical mile 2015\/16 Clipper Race starting on 30 August. \u00a0The race route starts from the south of England, heading to Rio de Janeiro, Cape Town, Albany in Australia, Sydney, Whitsundays, Qingdao in China, West Coast North America, and East Coast North America, returning to the UK. \u00a0\u00a0Stormhoek Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon will be served during race arrivals and official events.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 The safety of Lion’s Head walking trail is being evaluated, reports the <\/span>Atlantic Sun<\/strong>, after a hiker slipped and fell on New Year’s Eve. \u00a0The climb has become hugely popular, and congestion of hikers wishing to go up the last section at the chains. \u00a0Parking is hard to find too, often 3 km from the start of the walk. \u00a0SANParks says it hands out brochures to hikers, with advice for the walk, and it has staff patrolling the route.<\/span><\/p>\n

* \u00a0 The City of Cape Town has erected a rip current warning sign at Rocklands Beach in Sea Point, after bathers got into trouble at the beach over the festive season. \u00a0Other Cape Town beaches with dangerous rip currents are Lagoon Beach, Camps Bay, Monwabisi, and Strand Beach, according to The Atlantic Sun<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
