* \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Michael Townsend<\/strong>\u00a0(who owns the Harbour House emporium, with\u00a0La Parada, Lucky Fish, and Harbour House restaurants) has\u00a0opened\u00a0Tiger’s Milk<\/strong>\u00a0in Muizenberg (photograph). \u00a0The Lucky Fish on Long Street will be transformed into Tiger’s Milk.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Kokkedoor judge and Chef Nic van Wyk and Roxy Laker have opened\u00a0bistro 13 at Stellenbosch Vineyards<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0(Welmoed)<\/p>\n

*\u00a0Hard Rock Caf\u00e9<\/strong>\u00a0has returned to South Africa, and has opened the first of four branches on Mandela Square in Johannesburg. \u00a0Branches in Cape Town, Pretoria, and Durban are planned.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0NV-80<\/strong>\u00a0has opened in the Checkers building in Sea Point.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Baked in the Wood<\/strong>\u00a0is to open on Bree Street, offering craft beer and tapas, owned by Zahir Mohamed of Baked Bistro<\/strong><\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Thornton Whites Gastro Bar<\/strong>\u00a0has opened<\/span><\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0DeKapo<\/strong>\u00a0has opened as a Halaal restaurant in Mouille Point<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Flames<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>View<\/strong>\u00a0have opened in the Four Seasons Hotel The Westcliff in Johannesburg, with Chef Dirk Gieselmann, previously of 3 Michelin star Auberge de I\u2019ll \u00a0in France.<\/span><\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Yo Meatball<\/strong>\u00a0has opened on Roeland Street<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Chef Craig Cormack has opened a\u00a0<\/span>Pop-Up Pizza & Pasta Restaurant<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>next to the\u00a0<\/span>All\u00e9e Bleue\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0winetasting centre, open until end September.<\/span><\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0CreATE Inspirational Caf\u00e9<\/strong>\u00a0has opened in Stellenbosch.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Crisp<\/strong>\u00a0in Franschhoek<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0is adding a kitchen, to serve light meals and coffee.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Chef Thomas Sinn<\/strong>\u00a0has opened\u00a0<\/span>Rivendell Restaurant\u00a0<\/strong><\/a>on Rivendell wine estate, on the road between Bot River and Hermanus. \u00a0He has been a past\u00a0<\/span>Eat Out<\/strong>\u00a0Top 10 Restaurant owner (The Blue Danube), opened Buitenverwachting restaurant, and owned Sinn’s, now having closed all his Cape Town restaurants.<\/span><\/p>\n

*\u00a0\u00a0 popupitalian<\/strong>\u00a0has opened in Sea Point by Chef Giancarlo Peroni<\/p>\n

* \u00a0<\/span>\u00a0Mother’s Ruin<\/strong>\u00a0Gin Bar has opened on Bree Street.<\/span><\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Snob Food<\/strong>\u00a0is to open on Bree Street in March<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Kleinsky’s Delicatessen<\/strong>\u00a0has opened on Regent Road in Sea Point.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Blacksmith’s Kitchen<\/strong>\u00a0has opened in Paarl.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Boschendal<\/strong>\u00a0Farm Werf Restaurant<\/strong>\u00a0will open at the end of February<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Homespun<\/strong> has opened in Table View.<\/p>\n

Restaurant Closures<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/a><\/span>Casparaus<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0has closed down in Stellenbosch<\/span><\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Lanique Bistro & Bar<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0in De Waterkant has closed down.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Polana<\/strong>\u00a0in Kalk Bay has closed down, and now is the smoking section of Harbour House Kalk Bay.<\/span><\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Addictions<\/strong>\u00a0in Sea Point looks very closed, with a chain at the front door, and a notice inside stating that it is under construction, but there is no construction work visible in the tiny space.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Giancarlo’s Italian Deli<\/strong>\u00a0has closed down on Bree Street.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 La Masseria<\/strong> in Stellenbosch has closed with immediate effect.<\/p>\n

Restaurant chef\/staff\/venue changes<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Morgenster<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0is planning a new restaurant, a Caf\u00e9, a Deli, and accommodation, a project which is still in development phase, but is planned to roll out this year.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Fyndraai<\/strong>\u00a0has moved into a new restaurant building on Solms-Delta, making space for the current restaurant venue to become the tasting room. \u00a0The restaurant building was previously a stable, and is next to the new Music van de Caab building.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Fisherman\u2019s Catch<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>in Franschhoek\u00a0has closed, after re-opening twice last year. \u00a0It had a new sign West Coast Farm Stall and Coffee Shoppe, but that has also been taken down. \u00a0Its new signage is The White House, and a coffee shop\/restaurant inside, called Aptyt!<\/strong> \u00a0It also sells Addictions<\/strong> (ice cream shop brand in Cape Town)!<\/span><\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Chef Andres Cond\u00e9<\/a>,<\/strong>\u00a0formerly from elBulli and Tickets Michelin-star restaurants, has joined the\u00a0<\/span>Harbour House Group<\/strong>. \u00a0He will eventually open a fine dining restaurant in the Constantia Nek restaurant building<\/span><\/p>\n

* \u00a0 The Company\u2019s Garden Restaurant<\/strong><\/span><\/a> has opened under the management of the Madame Zingara Group, having originally been named\u00a0Haarlem & Hope.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Pesce Azzurro<\/strong> has opened in\u00a0the former Don Pedro in Woodstock.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Carne Bistro\u00a0has opened on Kloof Street<\/strong><\/a>, where Caffe Milano was, and another Carne has opened in Wynberg.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Mange Tout at Mont Rochelle in Franschhoek has re-opened, and has been renamed\u00a0Miko<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Chef Jackie Cameron has left Hartford House, and opens the\u00a0Jackie Cameron School of Food and Wine<\/strong>\u00a0in Hilton.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0La Colombe<\/strong>\u00a0has moved out of Constantia Uitsig, and has re-opened at Silvermist in Hout Bay.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Chef PJ Vadas<\/strong>\u00a0has left Camphors at Vergelegen, to open his own \u00a0restaurant and brewery\u00a0The Hog House<\/strong>\u00a0in Cape Town. \u00a0The brewery will operate from Ndabeni, near Merrypak.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0<\/span>La Parada<\/strong>\u00a0is opening in part of the former Constantia Nek restaurant building<\/span><\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Umi<\/strong>\u00a0restaurant in Camps Bay has been halved in size, and\u00a0La Belle Caf\u00e9<\/strong>\u00a0has opened in the other half. \u00a0It is a sister restaurant to the one based in The Alphen, also being part of the Kovensky Group.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Jamie\u2019s Italian<\/strong>\u00a0is opening in the V&A Waterfront, when the Sevruga lease expires, Chef Jamie Oliver already having restaurants in Canada, Australia, Dubai, Ireland, Hong Kong, Russia, Singapore, and Turkey.<\/span><\/p>\n

* \u00a0 The Daily Deli in Tamboerskloof has changed owners, and changed its name to\u00a0The\u00a0Blue Caf\u00e9.<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Burgundy<\/strong>\u00a0in Hermanus has been sold to Willem and Estie Steyn, who in turn have sold\u00a0Savannah<\/strong>. \u00a0They also own @Food and Wine in Hermanus.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Ryan\u2019s Kitchen<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0has re-opened at the\u00a0former Pistachio Bistro<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0in Place Vendome in Franschhoek.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Khuselo Mputa<\/strong>\u00a0has left Aubergine, and now is at Grande Provence as Sommelier and Restaurant Manager.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Chef\u00a0<\/span>Michael Cooke<\/strong>\u00a0from La Colombe has joined Camphors at Vergelegen as Executive Chef, taking over from PJ Vadas.<\/span><\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Chef\u00a0Gary Richardson<\/strong>\u00a0has left Stables at Vergelegen, opening his own restaurant Graze<\/strong> in Harfield Village.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Chef\u00a0<\/span>Stefan Danz<\/strong>\u00a0of Babylonstoren joined Stables at Vergelegen as Executive Chef, and left after a month. \u00a0Chef Darryn Shinners now heads up the Stables kitchen.<\/span><\/p>\n

* \u00a0 The management of Tokara has taken over\u00a0Tokara DeliCATessen,\u00a0<\/strong>renamed\u00a0TOKARA Deli.<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0Open from Tuesday – Sunday for breakfast and lunch, and on Friday and Saturday evenings for pizzas,burgers, and craft beer.<\/p>\n

*\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0Maison\u00a0has opened a Deli offering Tapas dishes<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0to pair with its winetasting in October.<\/span><\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Ashley Moss<\/strong>\u00a0is the new Head Chef at The Greenhouse.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0The Salmon Bar<\/strong>\u00a0in Franschhoek has been sold again, to a very friendly David MacGinty.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Chef Christiaan Campbell<\/strong>\u00a0of Delaire Graff has\u00a0moved to Boschendal<\/strong><\/a>. \u00a0 His replacement is Michael Dig, a chef who worked with Chef Christiaan.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Chef Brad Ball<\/strong>\u00a0of Bistro Sixteen82 has left, moving to\u00a0Pedlars on the Bend.<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Kelly Kilpin is the new chef at Bistro Sixtn82.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 The Executive Club at the Westin Cape Town has changed its name to\u00a0<\/span>On 19. \u00a0Chris Maree\u00a0<\/strong>is the new chef, previously at the Twelve Apostles Hotel & Spa.<\/span><\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Chef Oliver Cattermole has left Mondiall and joined\u00a0The Leeu Collection<\/strong><\/a>. Chef Lauren Case is now running the Mondiall kitchen. Mondiall Sous Chef Jodey Carlous has also left, joining the Zingara Group.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Chef Marile van Niekerk<\/strong>\u00a0has left Craft Wheat & Hops<\/strong><\/span><\/a> to join LUST Bakery & Bistro at Vrede en Lust as Head Chef.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Chris Papayannes,<\/strong>\u00a0previous Restaurant Manager and Sommelier at The Restaurant at Newton Johnson, has been appointed as Executive Sous Chef at Zevenwacht.<\/span><\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Chef Charl Coetzee<\/strong>\u00a0has joined Eight at Spier.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Taste<\/strong>\u00a0restaurant has moved to Bright Street in Somerset West.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Chef Germaine Esau<\/strong>\u00a0has moved from Delaire Graff to Makaron at Majeka House.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Charcutier Steve Jeffery\u00a0<\/strong>is\u00a0running the Blaauwklippen Bistro.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Notorious\u00a0Chef Conrad Gallagher<\/strong>, has re-opened\u00a0Caf\u00e9 Chic<\/strong>\u00a0in Breda Street.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 All\u00e9e Bleue Bistro has appointed\u00a0Beau du Toit<\/strong>\u00a0as new chef.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Bertus Basson at Spice Route<\/strong>\u00a0will open as a family restaurant on the wine estate, taking over the Spice Route restaurant, on 31 January, the kitchen to be run by\u00a0Chef Allistaire Lawrence, previously from Roots.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Chef Ryan Brand<\/strong>\u00a0has left The Banting Kitchen, and now is Executive Chef for the Kauai Group.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 The\u00a0Peregrine Farmstall restaurant<\/strong>\u00a0has re-opened after an extensive rebuild after a fire last year.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Kauai has opened its 150th outlet<\/strong><\/a>, in the V&A Waterfront. \u00a0Its current outlet in the V&A will close in February.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Chef Zane Pelser<\/strong> has left Grande Provence, and moved to Ryan’s Kitchen.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Chef Edmore Ruzoza<\/strong> has taken over the kitchen at The Red Table at Nederburg.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Chef Henrico Grobbelaar<\/strong>\u00a0is leaving Equus at Cavalli Estate, and his position will be taken over by Chef Hilton Espey.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Chef Vanessa Marx<\/strong> is leaving Dear Me at the end of the month, relocating to another city. \u00a0The White Room Tasting Menu will not continue after her departure.<\/p>\n
