* \u00a0 Sir David Graaff<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, owner of De Grendel wine estate and farm, passed away this past weekend.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 SAA claims to be the first airline to offer a credit card payment system in the sky<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, with its new locally-developed Satellite Authorisation System. The system also will offer an airline tracking service. \u00a0It will be implemented on all its international flights over time.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Statistics South Africa has promised to have 2014 tourism arrival statistics available<\/strong><\/span><\/a> by the end of March. \u00a0It blames the Department of Home Affairs for not having made such information available since March 2014.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Cape Town joins a handful of cities, and is the first in Africa, to launch its Open Data Portal.<\/strong><\/span><\/a> \u00a0As part of the World Design Capital 2014 legacy, the City has used design to make its data more transparent and available. \u00a0New York, London, and Helsinki have led the way to make their data available to the public at no charge. Initially data about the City’s budget, its parks, cemetries, tenders, service level agreements, and MyCiTi Bus stations and routes will be uploaded. \u00a0The public is invited to suggest further data additions, and to provide feedback.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Durbanville Hills is inviting winelovers to observe the working of its cellar in harvest time, on Wednesday evenings in February and March. \u00a0After a welcome drink, the cellar tour commences, barrel samples are tasted, and a sundowner picnic \u00a0with Durbanville Hills Merlot Ros\u00e9\u00a0can be enjoyed, at the cost of R450 per couple.
