* \u00a0 Meetings Africa was opened in Johannesburg by Tourism Minister Derek Hanekom<\/strong><\/span><\/a> today, the leading business tourism expo, and runs over three days. \u00a0Johannesburg is attracting global events, including the following forthcoming business events:\u00a0Breakbulk Africa 2015, CIDESCO World Congress from 20-25 May, the Summit on Healthy Ageing from 30 July to 2 August, Johannesburg International Motor Show from 14-25 October, as well as the 2016 Africa & Middle East Conference of Junior Chamber International from 4-6 May 2016.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Our country’s newest low-cost local airline Skywise will take off on 5 March<\/strong><\/span><\/a>. \u00a0The airline has been welcomed by SA Tourism: \u00a0‘We wish Skywise every success, and we look forward to a mutually beneficial relationship that will help grow tourism in South Africa<\/em>‘. \u00a0Initially two return flights per day between Cape Town and Johannesburg will be scheduled, with Durban to follow over time.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 World Travel Market (WTM) Africa<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>will be held in Cape Town from 15 – 17 April, with 400 exhibitors, and attendees from 60 countries.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 The world’s largest pizza outlet Pizza Hut is making a second attempt at opening outlets<\/strong><\/span><\/a> in Sub-Saharan Africa, currently operating eight stores on the continent, and planning to have 200 outlets open within the next three years. \u00a0The company wants to be the best in offering pizza, focusing on take-aways and a delivery service. \u00a0Domino’s Pizza is entering the African market too, Scooters and St Elmo’s pizza outlets becoming Domino’s, 200 outlets planned in Southern Africa over the next 5 years. \u00a0 Debonairs Pizza is the largest pizza chain in Africa, and recently opened in Angola with the assistance of Shoprite Holdings. \u00a0Nigeria and Zambia are next on the menu.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Chef Reuben Riffel and Samsung have teamed up to run the ‘For the love of food’<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/a> competition, seeking recipes for heritage South African food. \u00a0Samsung product prizes to the value of R300000 can be won. \u00a0The winning recipes will be cooked by Chef Reuben on Expresso on SABC3 and will be posted on the promotion website.<\/p>\n
