* \u00a0 A bid for Cape Town to host a Grand Prix<\/a><\/strong><\/span>\u00a0next year will be submitted by Cape Town Grand Prix SA to Motorsport South Africa tomorrow. \u00a0It is planned to be hosted in Green Point and at the Cape Town Stadium. \u00a0The costs involved are in the region of R750 million.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0 Nando’s is using its international outlets to attract attention to top South African design<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, including Vogel riempie chairs, and tables by Egg Designs. Pedersen + Lennard and Design Afrika have been commissioned too. \u00a0Nando’s designer Tracy Lee Lynch said about the project: ‘We’re implementing the project slowly and realistically. We’ll start with 20 pieces by 10 designers that will be used by the Nando’s interiors teams across the world. Customers in places such as Canada and the UK will see the best of our local talent<\/em>‘. \u00a0The company’s head office has been redesigned too.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 An American wine writer praises South African wines<\/strong><\/span><\/a>: ‘South Africa is another recent force in quality wines’<\/em>, and specifically mentions Eben Sadie, Hamilton Russell, Mullineux, and Johan Reyneke, calling the latter ‘the superstar’<\/em>, praising his 2012 Syrah.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 A study conducted by Sirhan Jessa into the viability of developing cultural and heritage tourism in Cape Town’s former District Six<\/strong> <\/span><\/a>has shown that a shortage of funds, no planning, a poor community, and delays in compensating the community for its previous homes are impediments. The study recommends that the land restitution process must be fast-tracked, and that heritage tourism in the area would give employment to residents of the area. \u00a0A themed heritage walk should be developed, built around the history and tradition of the former residents of the area, Sessa recommends.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Seven new Visa Application Centres were opened last week in India<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, in Goa, Jaipur, Kolkata, Pune, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, and Gurgaon. \u00a0The new centres bring the total in India to nine. \u00a0Visitors to our country from India must apply for visas in person at one of the centers. \u00a0 Hanneli Slabber, South African Tourism Country Manager for India, said: ‘India is a strategic tourism source market for South Africa with massive growth potential. Currently, it is the third biggest source market in Australasia and ranks seventh globally. Over the years, we have witnessed a growing upsurge in tourist arrivals from India and together with our valued trade partners, we have continuously worked towards popularising the destination among Indian travellers’.<\/em><\/p>\n
