* \u00a0 Uber has announced its contribution to the advancement of business opportunities for women, in collaboration with the United Nations, committing to creating 1 million jobs for women drivers around the world by 2020. (received via media release from Uber)<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 The Western Cape Government has announced an internet competition to the value of R12000, in two categories. \u00a0The Internet Innovation category seeks ideas from residents as to how the internet can improve the social and economic benefits in their neighbourhood, with a R10000 prize. The second is the ‘How the internet has improved my business<\/em>‘ category, with a R2000 prize. \u00a0Western Cape Minister of Economic Opportunities Alan Winde said: ‘This competition also gives us the chance to showcase the innovation of our residents and I\u2019m looking forward to the creative solutions entrants will put forward<\/em>‘. \u00a0The competition closes today. * \u00a0A number of local wine producers will present their brands at ProWein 2015<\/strong><\/span><\/a> in D\u00fcsseldorf next week. Distell will present its Nederburg Heritage Heroes, and its Two Oceans Pinot Grigio 1,5 litre pouch. \u00a0 Kleine Zalze will launch its new Cleefs range, and new Kleine Zalze vintages. \u00a0Oldenburg Vineyards will show case its premium range. \u00a0The Wines of South Africa (WOSA) stand will represent 1000 wines in total, highlighting our country’s ‘rich diversity of terroir and stylistic expression, as well as its excellent value offerings across the pricing spectrum,\u201d according to the trade body. There will be an extensive range of varietal and blended still and sparkling wines, including \u201csite-specific, biodynamic, organic and ethical examples.’<\/em><\/p>\n

* \u00a0 OR Thambo International has been judged the Best Airport in Africa<\/strong><\/span><\/a>, followed by Cape Town International, and King Shaka International, in the SkyTrax World Airport Awards. \u00a0Best airport in the world is Singapore Changi Airport, followed in second place by Incheon International in South Korea, and Munich airport in third place.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 The Mobile Triage App tested at the Khayelitsha District Hospital in Cape Town has won the Big Impact Award in Barcelona. \u00a0It was developed by medical doctors Yaseen Khan and Mohammed Dalwai, and assist in prioritising the treatment of patients at accidents and in emergency rooms.<\/p>\n
