\"Palma<\/a>Even though we are almost at the end of the summer season, chefs are still moving between restaurants, a number of chef changes having taken place at the end of February. \u00a0This list of restaurant openings and closings and restaurant staff movements is\u00a0updated continuously,\u00a0<\/strong>as we receive new information:<\/p>\n

Restaurant Openings<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Italian restaurant\u00a0Palma<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0has opened on Bree Street (photograph)<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Bacon on Bree<\/strong>\u00a0has opened at 217 Bree Street, a bacon-inspired restaurant by charcuterier Richard Bosman and his wife Justine Seymour.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Culture Club<\/strong> cheese and wine shop has opened at 215 Bree Street, its owner previously having been the GM of La Fromagerie on Marylebone High Street in London!<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0The Butcher Shop & Grill<\/strong>\u00a0has opened next to Sotano in Mouille Point.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Baked in the Wood<\/strong>\u00a0is to open on Bree Street, offering craft beer and tapas, owned by Zahir Mohamed of Baked Bistro<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Honest Chocolate Caf\u00e9<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0has opened next door to its original shop on Wale Street.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Tasha\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0has opened in Canal Walk<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Local\u00e9 Cocktail & Pincho Bar<\/strong>\u00a0has opened in Mowbray, as a joint venture between Baked Bistro and Starlings Caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Crisp<\/strong>\u00a0in Franschhoek<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0has added a kitchen, to serve light meals and coffee.<\/p>\n

*\u00a0\u00a0 popupitalian<\/strong>\u00a0has opened in Sea Point by Chef Giancarlo Peroni<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Snob Food<\/strong>\u00a0is to open.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Kleinsky\u2019s Delicatessen<\/strong>\u00a0has opened on Regent Road in Sea Point.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Blacksmith\u2019s Kitchen<\/strong>\u00a0has opened in Paarl.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Boschendal<\/strong>\u00a0Farm Werf Restaurant<\/strong>\u00a0has opened<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Homespun<\/strong> has opened in Table View.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Chardonnay Deli<\/strong><\/span><\/a> has opened in Constantia.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Mejaune Interior, Lifestyle, and Eatery<\/strong>\u00a0has opened in Somerset West.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Quaglinos<\/strong> has opened in Mouille Point.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Inside and You’re Out Burgers<\/strong> has opened in the Cape Town city centre.<\/p>\n

Restaurant Closures<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Lanique Bistro & Bar<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0at Andiamo in De Waterkant has closed down.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Polana<\/strong>\u00a0in Kalk Bay has closed down, and now is the smoking section of Harbour House Kalk Bay.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Giancarlo\u2019s Italian Deli<\/strong>\u00a0has closed down on Bree Street.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 La Masseria<\/strong> in Stellenbosch has closed.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Peter’s House<\/strong> opposite Power & Glory has closed down.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 The restaurant on Top of The Ritz<\/strong> has closed down.<\/p>\n

Restaurant changes<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Morgenster<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0is still working on its new Caf\u00e9, Deli, and accommodation.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Fyndraai<\/strong>\u00a0has moved into a new restaurant building on Solms-Delta, the former restaurant venue to become the tasting room.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Pesce Azzurro<\/strong> has opened in\u00a0the former Don Pedro in Woodstock.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0La Parada<\/strong>\u00a0is opening in part of the former Constantia Nek restaurant building, with former Michelin-star restaurants El Bulli and Tickets Chef Andres Cond\u00e9 opening a restaurant in the same building.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Jamie\u2019s Italian<\/strong>\u00a0is opening in the V&A Waterfront, when the Sevruga lease expires, Chef Jamie Oliver already having restaurants in Canada, Australia, Dubai, Ireland, Hong Kong, Russia, Singapore, and Turkey.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Ryan\u2019s Kitchen<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0has re-opened at the\u00a0former Pistachio Bistro<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0in Place Vendome in Franschhoek.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 The management of Tokara has taken over\u00a0Tokara DeliCATessen,\u00a0<\/strong>renamed\u00a0TOKARA Deli.<\/strong><\/p>\n

* \u00a0 The Executive Club at the Westin Cape Town has changed its name to\u00a0On 19. \u00a0Chris Maree\u00a0<\/strong>is the new chef, previously at the Twelve Apostles Hotel & Spa.*<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Taste<\/strong>\u00a0restaurant has moved to Bright Street in Somerset West.*<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Bertus Basson at Spice Route<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0has opened as a ‘modern South African restaurant<\/em>‘ at Spice Route, the kitchen run by\u00a0Chef Alistaire Lawrence, previously from Roots and Overture.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 The\u00a0Peregrine Farmstall restaurant<\/strong>\u00a0has re-opened after an extensive rebuild after a fire last year.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Plant<\/strong>\u00a0Caf\u00e9<\/strong>\u00a0has moved from Bo-Kaap to Loop Street.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Tribakery on Bree Street has changed its name to\u00a0B @ 1<\/strong><\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Johann\u2019s Dining Room\u00a0has opened at Orphanage Cocktail Emporium<\/strong><\/a>, with Chef Johann Breedt.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Neil Grant and his business partner Barry Engelbrecht (of Burrata<\/strong><\/a> and Bocca<\/strong><\/a>) have taken over the\u00a0River Caf\u00e9 <\/strong>at Constantia Uitsig, and opening in May and renaming it Open Door.<\/strong><\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Biga Caf\u00e9, Bakery, and Deli<\/strong> <\/a>has opened where Season used to be in Hermanus.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Villa Mia<\/strong> has opened in the Cape Quarter.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Con Brio Bistro<\/strong> has opened in Vredehoek.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Vicky Cristina\u2019s<\/strong> tapas bar y restaurante espanol has opened in Camps Bay, where Caf\u00e9 Sofia used to be.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The Lucky Fish on Long Street is being transformed into Tiger\u2019s Milk<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Keenw\u00e4<\/strong>\u00a0has To Let signs on its building. \u00a0In a Tweet intercourse today, they said there is a third option to closing or moving mid-July!<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Batavia Caf\u00e9<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>has opened on Rose Street, where Haas operated previously.<\/p>\n

Chef and Restaurant staff changes<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Chef Henrico Grobbelaar<\/strong>\u00a0has left Equus at Cavalli Estate, and his position has been taken over by Chef Hilton Espey.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Chef Vanessa Marx<\/strong>\u00a0has left Dear Me, relocating to the Eastern Cape. \u00a0The White Room Tasting Menu will not continue after her departure.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Chef Constantijn Hahndiek<\/strong> from OSA Restaurant at Fairmont Zimbali has moved to Hartford House.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Chef Lauren Case<\/strong>\u00a0has left Mondiall to move to Bocca. \u00a0Chef Riaan Burger<\/strong> <\/a>has taken over from her.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Chef Zane Grobler<\/strong>\u00a0has left Grande Provence, and moved to Ryan\u2019s Kitchen, but has left to move to Port Elizabeth.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Chef Edmore Ruzoza<\/strong> has taken over the kitchen at The Red Table Restaurant at Nederburg.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Chef Jackie Cameron opens the\u00a0Jackie Cameron School of Food and Wine<\/strong>\u00a0in Hilton.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Chef\u00a0Michael Cooke<\/strong>\u00a0from La Colombe has joined Camphors at Vergelegen as Executive Chef, taking over from PJ Vadas.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Chef\u00a0Gary Richardson<\/strong>\u00a0has left Stables at Vergelegen, opening his own restaurant Graze\u00a0<\/strong>in Harfield Village.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 \u00a0Chef\u00a0Stefan Danz<\/strong>\u00a0of Babylonstoren joined Stables at Vergelegen as Executive Chef, but left after a month. \u00a0Chef Darryn Shinners now heads up the Stables kitchen.<\/p>\n

\u00a0* \u00a0 Chef Christiaan Campbell<\/strong>\u00a0of Delaire Graff has\u00a0moved to Boschendal<\/strong><\/a>. \u00a0 His replacement is Michael Dig, a chef who worked with Chef Christiaan.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Chef Brad Ball<\/strong>\u00a0has left Bistro Sixteen82, moving to\u00a0<\/a><\/strong>Pedlars on the Bend, now named<\/a><\/span> Pedlars & Co.<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>Kelly Kilpin is the new chef at Bistro Sixteen82.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Chef Charl Coetzee<\/strong>\u00a0has joined Eight at Spier.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0All\u00e9e Bleue Bistro has appointed\u00a0Beau du Toit<\/strong>\u00a0as chef.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Chef Germaine Esau<\/strong>\u00a0has moved from Delaire Graff to Makaron at Majeka House.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Chef Ryan Brand<\/strong>\u00a0has left The Banting Kitchen, and now is Executive Chef for the Kauai Group.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Chef Ryan Cole<\/strong>\u00a0from Pierneef\u00a0\u00e0 La Motte has moved to The Test Kitchen.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 \u00a0Chef Dane Newton<\/strong> is leaving Warwick Wine Estate\u00a0on 31 March, moving to Hermanus.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0The Ultimate Braai Master Champions for 2014, Yusuf Sujee and Stephen Mandos, have taken over as chefs at\u00a0La Vierge<\/strong>\u00a0in Hermanus.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Chef Ryan Brown<\/strong> from Truffles has moved to Dale\u2019s Black Angus Grill, <\/strong>and subsequently moved to Driftwood Caf\u00e9.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Twelve Apostles Hotel & Spa Food & Beverage Manager Gavin Ferreira<\/strong> has been promoted to Deputy GM of the hotel, but retains his food and beverage responsibilities.<\/p>\n
