\"David<\/a>The Sweet Service Award<\/strong> goes to Maxwood’s Framers&Gilders and its manager Robin Reisenberger, who was very generous in assisting me in ‘unframing’ a painting which I took with me to the UK for my son. He was able to remove the frame on the same day, find a cardboard roll for me to put it into, and to not charge me a cent, despite not having been a customer there for about 15 years!<\/p>\n

\"Deepend<\/a>The Sour Service Award<\/strong> goes to Deep End Pools in Stellenbosch, and its owner Matt Dodds, who replaced a pool pump at our guest house in Franschhoek. Unfortunately the pool motor did not work, due to an air bubble, disappointing as we had guests for the Franschhoek Literary Festival. The pool company had nothing more than install the pump, not running and testing it, did not close the gates housing the pool equipment, and did not clean up behind them after sawing blue piping, leaving all the cut-offs where they had worked! I called the company, and its owner and a young chap he referred to as his son came to work on the problem. The ‘son’ told me to let the motor run without connecting the pool cleaner overnight, and that they would return the following day, to clean the pool. They never arrived the following day, and did not return my calls nor respond the following day, having been very quick to demand full payment upfront! Matt categorically does not answer client calls on his cellphone.<\/p>\n
