* \u00a0 The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has reacted to the additional Immigration Regulations introduced on Monday, requesting our government ‘<\/strong><\/span><\/a>to act in the best interests of the country<\/strong><\/span><\/a> and review\u201a modify\u201a and if necessary\u201a rescind\u201a the new measures if they do not have the desired effect and if they act as a handbrake on travel\u201a tourism and economic growth\u201a not just for South Africa \u2014 which is experiencing its weakest GDP performance in decades \u2014 but for the entire region. From a commercial and economic perspective\u201a the industry is concerned that the harsh and onerous requirements South Africa has prescribed for travellers will negatively impact on the sustainability of air services\u201a travel\u201a trade and tourism to\u201a from and via South Africa<\/em>‘!<\/p>\n
