\"Open<\/a>Winter has set in, and the rate of new restaurant openings has almost ground to a halt, as has the move of chefs between restaurants. \u00a0This list of restaurant openings and closings and restaurant staff movements is\u00a0updated continuously,\u00a0<\/strong>as we receive new information:<\/p>\n

Restaurant Openings<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Open Door<\/strong><\/span><\/a> has opened at\u00a0Constantia Uitsig, the third restaurant to be opened by\u00a0Neil Grant and his business partner Barry Engelbrecht (of Burrata<\/strong><\/a> and Bocca<\/strong><\/a>), previously the\u00a0River Caf\u00e9. <\/strong>(photograph)<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Michael Townsend of the Harbour House Group is planning to open two new restaurants on the Muizenberg beachfront: a 160-seater Live Bait<\/strong>, and Howlin\u2019 Wolf,<\/strong> a burger and beer quick service restaurant.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Bertus Basson at Spice Route<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0has opened as a \u2018modern South African restaurant<\/em>\u2018 at Spice Route, the kitchen run by\u00a0Chef Alistair Lawrence, previously from Roots and Overture.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Bacon on Bree<\/strong>\u00a0has opened at 217 Bree Street, a bacon-inspired restaurant by charcuterier Richard Bosman and <\/span>his wife Justine Seymour.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Culture Club<\/strong>\u00a0Cheese<\/strong> and wine shop has opened at 215 Bree Street, its owner previously having been the GM of La Fromagerie on Marylebone High Street in London!<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Baked in the Wood<\/strong>\u00a0is to open on Bree Street, offering craft beer and tapas, owned by Zahir Mohamed of Baked Bistro<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Kleinsky\u2019s Delicatessen<\/strong>\u00a0has opened on Regent Road in Sea Point.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Blacksmith\u2019s Kitchen<\/strong>\u00a0has opened in Paarl.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Boschendal<\/strong>\u00a0Farm Werf Restaurant<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0has opened<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Homespun<\/strong> has opened in Table View.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Mejaune Interior, Lifestyle, and Eatery<\/strong>\u00a0has opened in Somerset West.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Inside and You\u2019re Out Burgers<\/strong> has opened in the Cape Town city centre.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Max Bagels<\/strong> has opened on Bree Street.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 MasterChef SA Season 3 winner Roxi Wardman<\/strong> is opening Spoonful Eatery in Windermere Centre in Durban.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Chef Cheyne Morrisby is to open Lucky Boa and Asian Shake Bar<\/strong> in Hout Bay.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Loaves on Long<\/strong><\/span><\/a>\u00a0has opened on Long Street.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Imibala Restaurant<\/strong><\/span><\/a> has opened on Bright Street in Somerset West, with Chef Nicole Dupper at the helm.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Chef PJ Vadas is to open The<\/strong>\u00a0Hog House on The Werf<\/strong><\/a> craft Bakery and Caf\u00e9 at Spier<\/strong> in October.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Chef Luke Dale-Roberts is to open Naturalis<\/strong>, an \u2018incubation hub\u2019<\/em> and venue for occasional dinners and events.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Ou Meul Bakery<\/strong> has opened in Welgemoed.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Vida e Caffe is opening Torrador<\/strong> at Cape Gate.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Hudsons<\/strong> is opening a burger restaurant in Stellenbosch.<\/p>\n

Restaurant Closures<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Peter\u2019s House<\/strong> opposite Power & Glory has closed down.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 The restaurant on Top of The Ritz<\/strong> has closed down.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Mano A Mano<\/strong> has closed down.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Thornton Wines Gastro Bar<\/strong> has closed down.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Ile de Pain<\/strong> on Thesen Island in Knysna has burnt down.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 The Grill Room<\/strong> in Franschhoek has closed down on the main road, to make way for new developments. It is said to be re-opening in the former Allora building.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 The Banting Kitchen<\/strong> at Cape Royale Luxury Hotel has closed down.<\/p>\n

Restaurant changes<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Morgenster<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0is still working on its new Caf\u00e9, Deli, and accommodation.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Pesce Azzurro<\/strong> has opened in\u00a0the former Don Pedro in Woodstock.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0La Parada<\/strong>\u00a0is opening in part of the former Constantia Nek restaurant building, with former Michelin-star restaurants El Bulli and Tickets Chef Andres Cond\u00e9 opening a restaurant in the same building.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Taste<\/strong>\u00a0Bistro<\/strong> has moved to Bright Street in Somerset West.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Villa Mia<\/strong> has opened in the Cape Quarter.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Vicky Cristina\u2019s<\/strong> tapas bar y restaurante espanol has opened in Camps Bay, where Caf\u00e9 Sofia used to be.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The Lucky Fish on Long Street is being transformed into Tiger\u2019s Milk<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Keenw\u00e4<\/strong>\u00a0has To Let signs on its building. \u00a0In a Tweet intercourse, they said there is a third option to closing or moving mid-July!<\/p>\n

* \u00a0\u00a0Batavia Caf\u00e9<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>has opened on Rose Street, where Haas operated previously.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Jerry\u2019s Burgers<\/strong>\u00a0has opened where Mano A Mano operated in Park Road.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 The Creamery<\/strong> is expanding the size of its Newlands outlet and opening in Mouille Point.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Nineteen Sixty One Grill<\/strong> has opened where Salzburger Grill operated on St John\u2019s Road in Sea Point.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Rustica<\/strong> has opened at Cape Royale Luxury Hotel, where The Banting Kitchen operated.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Tribakery<\/strong> in Canal Walk has a new owner, and its name is to be changed.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Chef Jason Whitehead has\u00a0sold Fr\u00e8re’s Bistro<\/strong>\u00a0to new owner Barry Owen, continuing to operate with the existing\u00a0staff, and retaining its\u00a0name. \u00a0Chef Jason will offer a Restaurant Consulting\u00a0service.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0Nigel Pace and Sarah Ord will open The Stack<\/strong> in July, in the former Leinster Hall.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 De<\/b> Warenmarkt<\/b> is to open in Stellenbosch, where the Cape Town Fish Market used to be.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Chef Constantijn Hahndiek<\/strong> from OSA Restaurant at Fairmont Zimbali has moved to Hartford House.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Chef Lauren Case<\/strong>\u00a0has left Mondiall to move to Bocca. \u00a0Chef Riaan Burger<\/strong> <\/a>has taken over from her at Mondiall.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Chef Jackie Cameron has opened the\u00a0Jackie Cameron School of Food and Wine<\/strong>\u00a0in Hilton.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Chef\u00a0Gary Richardson<\/strong>\u00a0(ex-Stables at Vergelegen) has opened his own restaurant\u00a0Graze\u00a0<\/strong>in Harfield Village.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 Chef Adrian Boll<\/strong> is the new Chef at Wild Peacock.<\/p>\n
