\"Neil<\/a>Neil Ellis Wines is launching a Webb Ellis wine to reflect the role of Neil Ellis’ family in the success of his forty-year wine-making history.<\/p>\n

Having set up the Neil Ellis Wines brand in his own name over the past 40 years, Neil Ellis has now incorporated his son Warren into the business, as winemaker and as viticulturist.<\/p>\n

To recognize the broader family role in the making of Neil Ellis wines, a Webb Ellis wine has been launched, recognizing the past, present, and future of the wine brand. The name Ellis has been added, acknowledging the role of his wife Stephanie (whose maiden name is Webb) in Neil’s journey, and being his pillar of support in it. \u00a0All three\u00a0their children are involved in the business, with Charl handling accounts, and Margot marketing. Neil is the overall mentor, guiding his children’s career paths, and the future of his brand.\"Neil<\/a><\/p>\n

The media release states: ‘The wine is symbolic of the sharing of knowledge and wisdom from generation to generation, marrying traditional methods with new techniques, and embodying a spirit of innovation, open mindedness and joint respect’<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The new Webb Ellis wine is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (65%) and Syrah (35%), the latter sourced from Groenekloof in Darling, and the former from the Jonkershoek Valley. The wine was aged in French oak barrels for 20 months. Only 780 bottles have been produced, each numbered, and cost R1000 each. The blend will only be produced in exceptional vintages, and component proportions may differ.<\/p>\n

We salute Neil Ellis and his family in their journey forward, and are delighted to have shared school benches with Neil in Wellington. We are very proud of the significant impact Neil Ellis has had on the South African wine industry to date, and no doubt will have in the future!<\/p>\n
