*. \u00a0 Noma owner Chef Ren\u00e9 Redzepi has announced that he is closing down the tasting menu Noma on 31 December 2016, moving to the Christiania suburb in Copenhagen, where he will build a glass house over a derelict skating park for a new restaurant, and create an urban farm.<\/a><\/strong><\/span> The produce served as well as the place settings will change as the seasons change. \u00a0In January next year Noma\u00a0sets up a pop-up restaurant in Sydney for 10 weeks.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 The Western Cape Government’s Tourism department has made a detailed analysis of the new visa regulations, and their impact on Tourism in the province. It has been compiled by Minister of Economic Opportunity Alan Winde’s\u00a0Red Tape Reduction Unit, and has been sent to Tourism Minister Derek Hanekom, Home Affairs Minister Malusi\u00a0\u00a0Gigaba,\u00a0and inter-ministerial committee chairman Cyril Ramaphosa.\u00a0The analysis shows that Medical Tourism has been particularly badly hit, a R10 billion industry which has patients that need three months or more to recover, necessitating that they must return to their country to reapply for a new visa. A major hotel group has achieved a loss of \u00a0R2,5 million over an 18 month period, while two major international conferences have experienced booking declines of up to 71% due to the regulations! * \u00a0 Airbnb has come under attack in Sydney<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, describing the sharing accommodation service as a taking economy! The hotel industry is requesting the government to ‘crack down on dodgy short-term stays’, <\/em>given the ‘flood of unregulated short-term accommodation’<\/em>\u00a0that unfairly competes against the established accommodation sector. ‘The new investment <\/em>(in hotels) is threatened by the spiraling increase in unregulated short-term accommodation’.<\/em> The playing field should be leveled. The informal 10000 rooms and apartments have no permits, do not employ staff, have no safety insurance, do nothing for the promotion of tourism, and do not pay taxes.<\/p>\n

*. Boschendal is offering tours of its new 2ha bio-friendly vegetable and herb garden<\/a><\/strong><\/span> on 31 October and 1 November. The Werf Food Garden tours will be led by Boschendal Horticulturist Megan McCarthy, and cost \u00a0R150, including a welcome drink, a gift bag, and snacks.
