*. \u00a0Cape Town has been named as one of 35 most beautiful cities in the world<\/a><\/strong><\/span> for 2015 by the UK Telegraph,<\/strong> in the company of Istanbul, Florence, Paris, Siena, Jerusalem, Oxford, Cambridge, New York, Rome, Sydney, Bruges, Seville, San Francisco, Bath, Lausanne, Venice, Edinburgh, London, Havana, Prague, Kyoto, Moscow, St Petersburg, Dubrovnik, Rio de Janeiro, and more.<\/p>\n

Cape Town was praised for its ‘in-your-face beauty of a craggy mountain range that drops precipitously into a glittering sea, its flanks carpeted in greens and delicate florals – the Cape Floral Kingdom, smallest yet richest in the world’.<\/em> The pristine white beaches with their granite boulders are also admired, together with the city’s food, wine, art scene, and accommodation quality making it a must-visit.<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 At CapeWine 2015 a Seminar by viticulturist Rosa Kruger heard that 60 new clones and varieties have been brought into our country<\/a><\/strong><\/span> in the last eight years, including Sauvignon Gris, Caladoc, Counoise, Marsanne, Petit Manseng, Rousanne, Picpoul Blanc, Lledoner Pelut, Vermentino, Assyrtiko, Mencia, Albari\u00f1o, and Agiorgtiko. \u00a0The quarantine process for imported vines has been speeded up to one year, from the previous seven years!<\/p>\n

* \u00a0 UK Wine expert Jancis Robinson has published the 4th ‘The Oxford Companion to Wine<\/em>‘, nine years after the third edition was published. It is a standard handbook used for the Diploma course of the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET).<\/p>\n

*. \u00a0A new three-times-per-week service between Durban and Lusaka<\/a><\/strong><\/span> has been launched by Zambian Proflight.<\/p>\n

*. \u00a0 SAA Sommelier and Food & Beverage Manager Bongi Bribery Sodladla has been suspended after her husband revealed that she had accepted bribes for wine orders. Her position has not been filled, and the annual SAA wine judging for the new wine list will not be done this year. (news received via word of mouth)<\/p>\n
