\"image\"<\/a>Two iconic hotel leaders, Clive Bennett from the One & Only Cape Town and Horst Frehse from the Twelve Apostles Hotel & Spa, are going into retirement, a massive loss for the Cape Town hotel industry. Both Hotel GMs crossed paths when Frehse took over Bennett’s job at the Twelve Apostles in 2010.<\/p>\n

Cigar-smoking Horst Frehse was synonymous with the Grande Roche in Paarl for many years, in an era in which Bosman’s was the country’s Top Restaurant, was renowned for its Winelist, and attracted travelers from around the world, particularly from Germany, to its top quality accommodation. The relationship ended suddenly, and Frehse moved to Asara in Stellenbosch, before moving to Singita properties, including their Tanzanian property, meaning a lot of traveling and time away from home. He quickly settled into the Twelve Apostles Hotel job as GM, and was promoted to Executive Director of the hotel last year, with Michael Nel following in his footsteps as GM.<\/p>\n

Clive Bennett moved to the One & Only Cape Town from the Twelve Apostles, and was \"image\"<\/a>far more low-key, rarely featuring in the hotel media releases. Bennett has run the Royal Hotel in Durban, the top hotel in our country in the ‘Eighties and ‘Nineties. He worked overseas before joining the Red Carnation Group, at The Oyster Box and then at the Twelve Apostles. Richard Lyon is taking over Bennet’s position<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, having worked at Virgin Active, The Landings at St Lucia, Marriott International, internationally, and his own hospitality consultancy.<\/p>\n
