\"Hamilton<\/a>We have had a very soft spot for Southern Right Sauvignon Blanc and Pinotage at our Whale Cottages, the Hamilton Russell second brand suiting our guest house perfectly. It was one of the first wines we added to our wine list (joined by Creation’s Whale Pod more recently) when we opened our first Whale Cottage in Hermanus 19 years ago.<\/p>\n

The Southern Right Sauvignon Blanc 2015 has just been launched, its 21st vintage. The wine has won ‘Best Value’<\/em> five times in Wine Spectator<\/strong>. It has complexity, depth, dry minerality, and ‘age-worthiness we are proud of’<\/em>, explains the media release received from Hamilton Russell.<\/p>\n

The Southern Right Sauvignon Blanc is unique in that :<\/p>\n

*. Up to 17 different parcels of grapes from top sites in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley and Walker Bay<\/p>\n

*. Five different top clones of Sauvignon Blanc<\/p>\n

*. A range of ripeness levels, to cover different ends of the fruit and texture spectrum<\/p>\n

*. Multiple yeasts for the fermentation – some for aroma and some for texture<\/p>\n

*. Two principal soil types. Light structured, Table Mountain Sandstone soil for lifted aromatics and a tight nervous, mineral tension and clay-rich Bokkeveld Shale soils for depth, density, and mid-palate structure.<\/p>\n

The Southern Right Sauvignon Blanc 2015 costs R71.<\/p>\n
