\"Uber<\/a>Eat Out<\/strong> and Uber are collaborating in delivering two ‘gourmet burgers<\/em>‘ (minimum order) to one’s home or office tomorrow (30 October), in Cape Town, Durban, and Johannesburg. This will become a monthly service.<\/p>\n

The ‘lunch on-demand<\/em>‘ service will deliver the ‘gourmet burgers<\/em>‘ (can the adjective apply to a burger, one asks), made in Cape Town by The Hoghouse Brewing Company, in Johannesburg by DW Eleven-13, and by 9th Avenue Bistro in Durban, at the cost of R120 for two. What is worrying is that the Uber notice misleads by referring to these as ‘top restaurants’,<\/em> yet this is a complete exaggeration. Only DW Eleven-13 is an Eat Out Top 20 finalist<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, but it has a casual eatery The Grazing Room attached to its business, which more than likely will be preparing the burgers! 9th Avenue Bistro<\/a><\/strong> <\/span>is nowhere near ‘top<\/em>‘, as I discovered when eating there in August!<\/p>\n

To order one goes into Uber at 12h00 tomorrow. One needs to check in which areas the offer applies – in Cape Town the ‘Burger Zone’<\/em> includes the city centre, as south as Wynberg, as east as Elsies River, as north as Milnerton, and excludes the Atlantic Seaboard.<\/p>\n

The Hoghouse Brewing Company ‘gourmet burger’<\/em> will be a smoked brisket bun, bread and butter pickles, rocket, and watercress. The DW Eleven13\/The Grazing Room burger is described\u00a0as being a Wagyu beef burger on a brioche bun created by Chef Marthinus Ferreira! The 9th Avenue beef burger is made with lamb bacon, Gouda, and mint mayo.<\/p>\n
