\"image\"<\/a>In a survey conducted about the cost of accommodation in 30 South African suburbs, towns and villages, Camps Bay was found to offer the most expensive accommodation for the peak summer season. Surprising is that smaller towns also feature on the most expensive accommodation list, when these are often chosen to avoid the expensive city prices! Seven of the top ten most expensive accommodation destinations are in the Western Cape.<\/p>\n

The survey was conducted by TravelMag.com,<\/strong> looking for the ‘average lowest cost<\/em>‘ of accommodation between December and March 2016, and including 3* plus accommodation. Rates quoted are per room, and were established via the hotel comparison engine Kayak.<\/p>\n

Franschhoek has always been said to be expensive, or at least have an image as such, and is true to this in coming in second in its lowest accommodation cost, at an average of R1137 per night, following closely behind Camps Bay at R1252. In third place is Marloth Park, outside the Kruger Park, at R993. Other more expensive destinations are Somerset West, Gordon’s Bay, Langebaan, Pretoria, and George. Of the 30 destinations surveyed, Port Elizabeth is the least expensive, at R500. Oudtshoorn and Jeffrey’s Bay accommodation costs also rank low on the list.<\/p>\n
