\"image\"<\/a>Having seen the ‘Singing in the Rain<\/em>‘ musical at Artscape yesterday, I was intrigued to read that a special bench inspired by the show has been created in the V&A Waterfront.<\/p>\n

As luck would have it for the publicity photograph, it rained earlier \"image\"<\/a>this morning, making the photograph very credible. \u00a0Members of the ‘Singing in the Rain<\/em>‘ cast, dressed in their civvies\u00a0and with\u00a0their umbrellas, were shot at the bench.<\/p>\n

What was very odd was that Sea Point\/half Camps Bay Councillor Jacques Weber was in the centre of the photograph, as if he was the main star of the show. \u00a0Ironically he has nothing to do with it, not even in getting the umbrella-shaped bench erected at the Waterfront! Even more ironic is that he issued a formal announcement that he would not be available to his constituents for almost a month, and would not be reachable by Facebook and Twitter. Yet he proudly posted the photograph and an introduction that he had come out of his Festive Season holiday especially to oblige for the publicity photograph! We have commented previously that he has a big ego, and regularly praises himself for the work he does as a Councillor!<\/p>\n

‘Singing \"image\"<\/a>in the Rain’<\/em> is great fun, a happy foot-stomping finger-snapping show which will be at the Artscape until 10 January. If one is brave enough, the three front rows offer the best seating, as one shares in the rain showers created on the stage. The lead actor loves kicking the water towards the seats, but one is supplied with a plastic poncho to protect oneself against the water! We had great fun, \"image\"<\/a>and did not regret sitting there. Given the water restrictions coming shortly, the show organizers have announced that all the water is recycled, 12000 liters of water being used per performance.<\/p>\n
