\"image\"<\/a>New restaurant openings continue, especially in Cape Town. \u00a0The most amazing new opening success has been Locanda Restaurant at Villa 47 on Bree Street<\/a><\/strong><\/span>, which became the city’s favorite within its first week of opening! \u00a0 Very interesting news is Chef Ivor Jones’ departure from The Test Kitchen*<\/strong><\/span> at the end of the month and his future (see below).<\/p>\n

# \u00a0\u00a0 Benguela on Main<\/a><\/strong> has opened in Somerset West, with Chef Jean Delport<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 \u00a0Chef Jan-Hendrik van der Westhuizen of one Michelin star JAN restaurant in Nice could open a restaurant in Cape Town!<\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Chef Luke Dale-Roberts opened\u00a0Naturalis<\/strong>\u00a0as an \u2018incubation hub\u2019<\/em>, for lunches, and a venue for occasional dinners and events. (NOTE<\/strong>: Naturalis is currently closed for lunches, and will re-open as a Wine Bar in the evenings when it has received its liquor licence).<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 A most interesting rumour is that Chefs Liam Tomlin and Ivor Jones* (Test Kitchen, who has already been rumoured to have resigned) are to jointly open a restaurant at The Silo hotel development<\/strong><\/span> in the V&A Waterfront. \u00a0 The Silo website states that the hotel is due to open in March 2017, and that it will have the Rooftop Restaurant, Rooftop Champagne Bar, and The Silo Caf\u00e9 as its offering. \u00a0Chef Ivor has just confirmed* his departure<\/strong><\/span> on Facebook, and has now left The Test Kitchen. \u00a0Interesting is the implication for The Test Kitchen in the 2016\u00a0Eat Out<\/strong> Top 10 Restaurant Awards!<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Baked Bistro<\/strong> is opening a second branch on Regent Road in Sea Point in June.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Mulberry & Prince<\/strong>\u00a0has openede on the corner of Bree and Pepper Street, with owners American Cynthia Rivera and local Cornel Mostert.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 La Colombe Executive Chef Scot Kirton and Pastry Chef Glen Williams are opening an additional\u00a0more informal restaurant<\/strong> at High Constantia in Spring,<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Beau<\/b> Vine<\/b> in Constantia appears to have closed down.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Tuscany Beach<\/strong> in Camps Bay is closed for renovations. The new restaurant The 41<\/strong> will open in November.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Ranoushe<\/strong> restaurant has closed down, after only three months!<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Crisp<\/strong> in Franschhoek has closed, to make space for the new Woolworths.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Freres Bistro<\/strong> has been sold, and is currently closed.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Active Sushi<\/strong> in Portside on Bree Street has closed.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Vida e Caffe<\/strong> in Portside on Bree Street has closed.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Chandani<\/strong> has closed.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Dudley’s<\/b> Larder<\/b> in McGregor will stop trading on 23 April.<\/p>\n

Restaurant changes<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

# \u00a0 La Parada<\/strong>\u00a0and Harbour House<\/strong> are opening in the former Constantia Nek restaurant building.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 The Salmon Bar<\/strong>\u00a0has closed temporarily, until it can find new premises in Franschhoek.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 The General Store<\/strong> has opened on Bree Street<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Breakaway Caf\u00e9<\/strong> has opened where Keenw\u00e4 used to be<\/p>\n

# \u00a0\u00a0Reuben\u2019s Franschhoek<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>will move to new premises when its lease expires, and its space is to become a Woolworths. \u00a0It will close for renovations at the end of May, and reopens at its new location at 2 Daniel Hugo Street in September. They will operate a pop-up restaurant at the Riffel-owned Racine at Chamonix in June and July.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 OYO<\/strong> at V&A Hotel will close in May, for a few months, for a complete renovation.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Dropkick Murphys<\/strong> has opened on Kloof Street, where GourmetBoerie used to be.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 The Stack<\/strong> will re-open mid-2016, after renovations due to fire damage.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Tiger\u2019s Milk Smokehouse<\/strong> is opening where Emily\u2019s used to be on Kloof Street.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Chef\u2019s Warehouse\u2019s Streetfood<\/strong> has closed, and has been replaced by their No Reservations<\/strong>Bar!<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 The Long Table Restaurant and Caf\u00e9<\/strong> at Haskell Vineyards closed on 27 March, and will re-open after 4 \u2013 6 weeks of renovation, upgrade, and general maintenance, to be run by the winery itself when it re-opens.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 La Cuccina<\/strong> is to open an outlet in the former Andiamo in the \u2018old\u2019 Cape Quarter in April.<\/p>\n
