Interesting news is Chef Ivor Jones’ departure from The Test Kitchen\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>and his future plans (see POSTSCRIPT below). \u00a0Mulberry & Prince is an exciting new New York-inspired restaurant.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 A most interesting rumour is that Chefs Liam Tomlin and Ivor Jones are to jointly open a restaurant at The Silo hotel development<\/strong><\/span> in the V&A Waterfront. \u00a0 The Silo website states that the hotel is due to open in March 2017, and that it will have the Rooftop Restaurant, Rooftop Champagne Bar, and The Silo Caf\u00e9 as its offering. \u00a0Chef Ivor has already\u00a0left The Test Kitchen. Interesting is the implication for The Test Kitchen in the 2016\u00a0Eat Out<\/strong> Top 10 Restaurant Awards!<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Baked Bistro<\/strong> is opening a second branch, on Regent Road in Sea Point in June.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 The<\/strong>\u00a0Flagship<\/strong> in Simonstown, formerly the restaurant of the late Bruce Robinson, has closed.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Tuscany Beach<\/strong> in Camps Bay is closed for renovations. The new restaurant The 41<\/strong> will open in November.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Ranoushe<\/strong> restaurant has closed down, after only three months!<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Crisp<\/strong> in Franschhoek has closed, to make space for the new Woolworths.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Freres Bistro<\/strong> has been sold, and is currently closed.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Active Sushi<\/strong> in Portside on Bree Street has closed.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Chandani<\/strong> has closed.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Dudley’s<\/b> Larder<\/b> in McGregor has stopped trading.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Borage<\/b> Bistro<\/b> will close down at its Bree Street premises on 13 May, to relocate to new premises, and reopen in September.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Dropkick Murphy<\/strong> has closed down on Kloof Street.<\/p>\n

Restaurant changes<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

# \u00a0 La Parada<\/strong>\u00a0and Harbour House<\/strong> are opening in the former Constantia Nek restaurant building.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 The Salmon Bar<\/strong>\u00a0has closed temporarily, until it can find new premises in Franschhoek.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Breakaway Caf\u00e9<\/strong> has opened where Keenw\u00e4 used to be<\/p>\n

# \u00a0\u00a0Reuben\u2019s Franschhoek<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>will move to new premises when its lease expires, and its space is to become a Woolworths. \u00a0It will close for renovations at the end of May, and reopens at its new location at 2 Daniel Hugo Street in September. They will operate a pop-up restaurant at the Riffel-owned Racine at Chamonix in June and July.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 OYO<\/strong> at V&A Hotel will close in May, for a few months, for a complete renovation.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Dropkick Murphys<\/strong> has opened on Kloof Street, where GourmetBoerie used to be.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 The Stack<\/strong> will re-open mid-2016, after renovations due to fire damage.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 The Harbour House Group is to take over The Grand <\/b>Camps Bay.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Chef Johann Breedt has bought Viva Caf\u00ea<\/strong>\u00a0<\/b>in Green Point, which is to be renamed Bernie\u2019s<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 SMAK Deli<\/strong> has opened where Tribakery used to be, on Bree Street.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 You<\/b> are<\/b> There<\/b> has opened on Regent Road in Sea Point.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Maggie\u2019s Caf\u00e9<\/a><\/strong> has opened in Green Point, where 65 on Main operated, owned by Chef Riaan Burger, previously of Mondiall.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Sababa<\/strong> has changed the name of its Bree Street branch back to its original name, after trading as Olami\u00a0<\/b>for a short while.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Tiger\u2019s Milk Smokehouse<\/strong> is opening where Emily\u2019s used to be on Kloof Street.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Chef\u2019s Warehouse\u2019s Streetfood<\/strong> has closed, and has been replaced by their No Reservations\u00a0<\/strong>Bar!<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 The Long Table Restaurant and Caf\u00e9<\/strong> at Haskell Vineyards closed on 27 March, and will re-open after 4 \u2013 6 weeks of renovation, upgrade, and general maintenance, to be run by the winery itself when it re-opens.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 La Cuccina<\/strong> is to open an outlet in the former Andiamo in the \u2018old\u2019 Cape Quarter.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Strolla<\/strong> is the new restaurant in the Peninsula All-Suite Hotel, operated\u00a0by the notorious Brendon Crew<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Kan10<\/strong>\u00a0has opened in De Warenmarkt, offering lunches, \u2018grab-and-go<\/em>\u2019, and dinners, with Chefs Nic van Wyk and Westley Muller.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0\u00a0The Bakery @ Jordan will no longer be operated by Chef George Jardine<\/a><\/strong> from\u00a03 May onwards. \u00a0It has been taken over by Jordan Winery.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Rivendell<\/b> Restaurant has moved to the Wine Tasting venue on the wine estate.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Chef Liam Tomlin is on a major expansion spree. He is taking over and renovating the former Takumi space as an Indian tapas bar,<\/strong> on two floors, opening in about three months. His chef \u00a0Sheldon Raju will head up the (as yet unnamed) restaurant, and the project partner is Dimo Papa Christodoulou of Fat Cactus and Long Street Cafe. They will not take reservations.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 Chef Warwick Taylor, ex Creation, is opening SOURCE restaurant<\/strong> in Hermanus, where Season and Biga used to operate.<\/p>\n

# \u00a0 The Village Tart<\/strong>\u00a0has opened where Gideon’s Pancakes used to be in Franschhoek.<\/p>\n
