We\u2019re working very hard with Treasury to convince them that we have the best economic case<\/em>&#8216;. \u00a0The projected tourism growth is a 46% increase, with a target of 13 million international visitors to be achieved by 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The first growth strategy is to evaluate the attractiveness of our country to international tourists, and the likelihood of long-haul travel. \u00a0The tourism body will collaborate with industry bodies to obtain input on how the marketing budget should be spent. Second, the tourism body is looking at creating a consistent marketing message for brand South Africa, allowing a broader access to marketing material.<\/p>\n<div class=\"text-center top-10 ng-scope\">\n<div class=\"article-body top-10 text-left\">\n<p>The third strategy will be to conduct international trade research, last conducted seven years ago. With this will be an evaluation of a more innovative way of spending the TOMSA\u00a0levy. The development of marketing policies is the fourth strategy, which should be aimed at meeting the needs of the industry. \u00a0The fifth strategy is &#8216;<em>being inspired through South African Tourism\u2019s people&#8217;.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Despite international arrivals increasing by 19% in the first half of 2016 relative to a year ago, and total arrivals increasing by 15% for the same period, SATSA CEO David Frost commented that our country&#8217;s &#8216;<em>tourism growth has stagnated&#8217;.<\/em><!--more--><\/p>\n<div id=\"beacon_2ae78960bc\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/nmas.nowmedia.co.za\/www\/delivery\/lg.php?bannerid=8468&amp;campaignid=5008&amp;zoneid=416&amp;loc=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.tourismupdate.co.za%2Farticle%2F112776%2FSA-lags-international-tourism-growth%3Futm_source%3DNow%2520Media%2520Newsletters%26utm_medium%3Demail%26utm_campaign%3DTU%2520Daily%2520Mail%26utm_term%3Dhttp%3A%252F%252Fwww.tourismupdate.co.za%252F%252Farticle%252F112776%252FSA-lags-international-tourism-growth&amp;cb=2ae78960bc\" alt=\"\" width=\"0\" height=\"0\" \/>&#8216;<em>Tourism Update tracked the first six months of arrivals to South Africa over the last four years.
