\"ChefsThe seven chefs teams and their sommeliers for Chefs who Share – the ART of Giving 2016 have been announced, for the Gala Dinner which will take place in the Johannesburg City Hall on Saturday 24 September.\u00a0<\/p>\n

For the first time Chefs who Share will be held in Johannesburg, after three years in Cape Town, and a mix of Johannesburg, Cape, as well as international chefs will be divided into seven teams, each team of two chefs serving 36 Gala Dinner guests. Each chefs’ team will create a unique menu for its set of guests, and the sommelier of each team will offer the best wine pairings with each of the dishes designed by the chef teams.<\/p>\n

\u2018Chefs who Share \u2013 the Art of Giving\u2019 in Johannesburg is described by its co-founder\u00a0Barbara Lenhard as follows: \u2018It promises to be a culinary and creative showcase that will take Johannesburg by storm\u2019.<\/em>\u00a0Three international chefs have been invited to participate in Chefs who Share, being\u00a0Swiss Chef Reto Mathis from Mathis Food Affairs<\/em>, UK-based Indian Michelin-starred Chef Vineet Bhatia, and Mauritius-based Chef Vincent Rodier from LUX* Resorts and Hotels<\/em>. Chefs Reto Mathis participated in Chefs who Share in Cape Town last year.<\/p>\n

A number of culinary events have been planned for the six days leading up to the Gala Dinner on 24 September, for 252 guests in total. \u00a0On the evening of the Grand Gala works donated by renowned local and international artists, as well as once-off, unique experiences, will be auctioned. \u2018This auction is traditionally an absolute highlight and the generosity of guests is what makes the difference\u2019<\/em> says Lenhard. \u00a0All funds raised on the evening will go towards youth development, and amongst others, The Veggie Box Initiative<\/a>. This ongoing project provides nutritious meals for children, nutritional education, and aids in developing sustainable vegetable gardens in underprivileged communities. This project began at the inaugural \u2018Chefs who Share \u2013 the ART of Giving\u2019 event in 2013, at which vegetables and fruit, instead of flowers, were used as event decorations.<\/p>\n

\u2018This event is not just about raising money or enjoying delicious food and buying beautiful art. It is about making a difference. I\u2019m very honoured that the money raised through the week\u2019s various events goes towards changing children\u2019s lives for the better and contributes to making South Africa the special place that it deserves to be<\/em>\u2018, said Florian Gast, Chefs who Share Co-founder and Trustee.<\/p>\n

Through the successful Chefs who Share events of the past three years a total of R6,1 million has been raised to date. Charities that will benefit from funds raised this year, include The Veggie Box Initiative, MAD (Make a Difference) Leadership Foundation, and the Click Foundation.<\/p>\n

For the first time Chefs who Share will become an almost week-long event!<\/p>\n
