Starting by making the fermented teas for her own health benefit, \"\"Meghan received such interest for her health Tea that she set up her Theonista company, and produces and bottles her Kombucha fermented teas by hand. Distribution is local in Cape Town as well as national. The Theonista name originated from ‘Theobroma<\/i>‘, the Greek name of the cocoa tree, meaning ‘Food of the gods<\/i>‘. Despite the success of Theonista, it plans to continue making its beverages by hand.<\/p>\n

Kombucha is made by fermenting tea and sugar with a SCOBY culture of yeast (originating from America) and bacteria. The Kombucha teas are available in a range of flavours, with new combinations of flavours developed related to the changing seasons. Theonista uses botanicals such as rooibos, spices such as cayenne, and fruit to flavour her teas. The resultant fermented tea has health benefits such as enhancing digestion, improved energy, and benefiting skin and hair. The base tea is 100% organic, and all additives are natural, and colourant- and preservative-free.<\/p>\n

Kombucha is available in pack sizes of 330 ml, 500ml, and 1 liter. I
\n\"\"received a delivery of three Kombucha samples from the PR Lab: Pomegranate and Green Tea; Lemongrass orange Rooibos; and Tumeric ginger Cayenne. Other flavours include Ginger Rooibos, Rooibos Pomegranate, Ginger Yerba Mat\u00e9, Simply Green, Coffee Rooibos, Buchu Delight, and other seasonal flavours. <\/p>\n

Kombucha on Tap is being introduced into restaurants and bars, as a healthy alternative to alcoholic beverages. First restaurants to offer the Kombucha fermented teas are Clarkes, The Loading Bay, and Wellness Warehouse at Cavendish Square.<\/p>\n
