\"\"<\/a>The power of Twitter is phenomenal, and the World Cup is an excellent example of its communication power – every time a goal is scored, Twitter is over-capacity.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0According to\u00a0“The Ultimate List: 100 + Twitter Statistics”, a cumulative total of more than 10 billion tweets have been sent to date by a total of 106 million Twitterers, reports the Hubspot Blog. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The following Twitter statistics\u00a0are included in the List:<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0 Only 10 % of internet users\u00a0are on Twitter.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0 Twitter has a 40\u00a0% user retention rate, the balance dropping out after only a month of signing up<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0\u00a0 Most Tweets are sent between 10h00 – 22h00<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0\u00a0 More Tweets are sent on Wednesdays and Thursdays, and the least on Saturdays and Sundays<\/p>\n

5.\u00a0\u00a0 1% of what are called “addicted” Twitterers account for 35 % of all Twitter usage<\/p>\n

6.\u00a0\u00a0 Demographically, Twitter users are equally\u00a0male and female, and predominantly 18 – 34 years old.<\/p>\n

7.\u00a0\u00a0 20 % of all Twitter accounts are inactive<\/p>\n

8.\u00a0\u00a0 50 % of all Twitter users are “lazy”, not having tweeted in the past week<\/p>\n

9.\u00a0\u00a0 5 % of Twitterers have more than 100 followers<\/p>\n

10.\u00a0\u00a05 % of Twitter users create 75 % of the Tweets, called the “loudmouths”<\/p>\n

11.\u00a0\u00a0 Tweets can be categorised as follows:<\/p>\n

*\u00a0\u00a0 40 % are “inane”, alternatively described as “pointless babble”!<\/p>\n

*\u00a0\u00a0 38 % of Tweets are “chatty”<\/p>\n

*\u00a0\u00a0 Only 8 % of\u00a0Tweets are “RT-worthy”<\/p>\n

*\u00a0\u00a0 8 % of Tweets are “egotistical”<\/p>\n

*\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 6 % of Tweets are spam<\/p>\n
