New Vicious Virgin Rum Bar not vicious at all, brings French Polynesian Tiki cocktail culture to Cape Town!

 

A new rum bar Vicious Virgin has opened quietly on Wale Street in Cape Town late in December, the first bar to bring the French Polynesian Tiki cocktail culture to Cape Town. Not only can one order specially created rum-based cocktails, but eat there too. Vicious Virgin is the name of a famous rum cocktail. Sweet Service Award goes to Councillor Nicola Jowell; OffLimit Communications Cape Town Sour Service Awards!

The Sweet Service Award goes to Sea Point/Camps Bay Councillor Nicola Jowell, for the excellent work she is doing in making Camps Bay a better place for its residents. Since meeting her about a month ago, I have reported the need for the mowing of the lawns on the Camps Bay beachfront, the requirement for additional rubbish bins, homeless structures near the beach, signage issues, drains that are too high in the promenade pavements, pushy marketing to beach goers, problems with mobile beach vendors, and more, sending her almost daily feedback about what I see in Camps Bay on my walks. She has managed to obtain super quick action on most issues from the City of Cape Town to date, following up when there is no action. Continue reading →

Sweet Service Award goes to The Blanc Canvas; Sour Service Award goes to OLC Experiential!

The Sweet Service Award goes to The Blanc Canvas and its owner Lisa, inside Oxford Stationers at the Gardens Centre. I had three small paintings and drawings bought on my recent trip framed, and they were completed within a week, at a very reasonable price.

Patrón Perfectionists 2019 SA cocktail competition finals has highest number of female finalists, but won by Cause & Effect mixologist David van Zyl!

On Thursday evening I attended the 2019 Finals of the Patrón Perfectionists tequila cocktail competition at Cause Effect Cocktail Kitchen and Cape Brandy Bar in the Waterfront, after a first part of the event had been held at Foliage in Franschhoek earlier in the day. Despite the largest number of female finalists over the past three years of the South African participation in the competition, the 2019 SA finals was won by David van Zyl, mixologist at Cause Effect Cocktail Kitchen!
