#Gratitude for a lovely sunny day, but with a strong wind blowing now; for an organized writing morning and meeting preparation; for Minsky returning home at 8h00 this morning after galavanting for 12 hours, being very worried about her and sleeping very badly; for a very quick walk through Bakoven and its lanes, too short a walk to make any impact with Discovery; for returning to Labotessa CafΓ© which I discovered last week, having a breakfast lunch; for a good first Status meeting at Anatoli; for a meeting with Juanita Levetan, a member of the Sea Point, Fresnaye, Bantry Bay Ratepayers & Residents Association, exchanging experiences about cleaning litter in Sea Point and Camps Bay; for a partly nerve-wracking Live Cook Channel cooking of pan-roasted prawns and hake, with linguine and a fennel crΓ¨me, designed by Chef Reuben Riffel; for topping up petrol at BP President on Regent Road, only needing a third of a tank added, happy that Michael was on duty, a fabulous petrol attendant; for two Discovery Gameboard plays, one generating 500 points, and a total of 675 between the two, allowing me to buy a Woolies R100 voucher; and for being happy and healthy. πŸ™πŸ’™ Continue reading →

#Grateful for a lovely relaxed day; for finding Version 3 of the Jacques Pauwgate story on Daily Maverick this morning , and having to post it, the Waterfront restaurant now named; for a litter clean up with Imtiaz, from Bakoven through the lanes and steps to Camps Bay Drive this morning, and cleaning at the Tidal Pool this afternoon again; for collecting my free copy of Daily Maverick 168 at Pick n Pay; for a Skype meeting with the Canadian Tour Guiding Tour Operator and fellow Committee members from around the world, making me grateful for the amount of Lockdown freedom we have in our country compared to many other countries; for Jenny Stephens joining me for dinner at Anatoli Turkish Restaurant, a fun evening with lots of good food; and for being happy and healthy. πŸ™πŸ’™ Continue reading →

#Grateful for a very good food day; for getting my writing done before 10h00, attending a meeting with Councillor Nicola Jowell, Imtiaz, and Xolani Ngqakayi , City of Cape Town Head of Cleansing for an area which includes Camps Bay, long overdue; for a croissant treat at Firefly CafΓ©, and doing one Camps Bay walk; for my MohnbrΓΆtchen waiting for me at Dinkel Bakery; for a very good Status meeting with my client, it feeling like ages since we had last seen each other, but it was just four days; for an amazing new food discovery, Parliament Street becoming a new food lane πŸ’™; for another Camps Bay walk; and for being happy and healthy πŸ™πŸ’™ Continue reading →

Discovery updates its members about Vaccinations…. yet many questions remain unanswered!

 

In an email received as a Discovery member from Adrian Gore, the Medical Scheme CEO, it is clear that while Discovery will pay its members’ vaccination cost, it is awaiting Government action and announcement as to which of its members will be eligible for the vaccinations and when.

Not sharing how many members it has in total, Gore does reveal that 5000 of Discovery members and 12 of its staff have died from the Corona Virus. A Google search revealed that the company has 3,5 million members.

Discovery estimates that half of the South African population has been infected with the Corona Virus, vastly different to the official Health Department figures.

#Grateful for a very relaxed day, spending it at home in the morning, Mr Grey keeping me company while I wrote in bed, he stretched out between the folds of the duvet, loving it; for being very happy to have Restaurant number 2 come on board, on the basis of the work I have done for Utopia in the past close to 4 months, having a very productive first meeting πŸ™ ; for a shop at The Olive Branch Deli and Woolies at Lifestyle on Kloof; for a walk to Clifton and back, not initially thinking that I would have the energy to walk the full stretch, but the more I walked the more energy I had, gaining 300 Discovery points; for two Discovery Gameboard plays today, just 5 points short of my next voucher; and for being happy and healthy. πŸ™πŸ’™ Continue reading →

#Grateful for an energetic day in walking with Imtiaz up to The Roundhouse, the oldest building in Camps Bay, to clean up litter near the Camps Bay High School, loving its views from there, and a good heart exertion, earning 300 Discovery points; for a fabulous 8 hours of sleep; for finishing my writing in time for the walk; for a treat fruit salad and basil sorbet at The 41 for that exertion; for writing a second story this afternoon when the Jacques Pauw story broke about his 360 degree turnaround; for a relaxed afternoon; and for being happy and healthy. πŸ™πŸ’™ Continue reading →
