Corona Gratitude 🙏

#Grateful for a day with a difference, a Roadtrip to Stellenbosch with Jenny Stephens; for a good meeting with one of my beach cleaners; for wine shopping at Woolies Stellenbosch Square to make use of their 25% discount; for buying poppyseed rolls at Dinkel, and homemade Quark (Cottage cheese) at the German Grocer, both of which were kept for me; for a pop-in at Delaire Graff, congratulating the new Chef Kayla-Ann Osborn and greeting GM Johann Laubser; for a smooth easy drive to and from Cape Town; for the highlight of a Tasting of a number of dishes on the menu of the brand new De Vleispaleis on Dorp Street, owned by my friend Stuart Bailey; and for being happy and healthy. 🙏💙 Continue reading →

SŸN Pop-Up Proudly South African in its Heritage Day Lunch Tasting Menu, presents a taste of what is to come when the new restaurant opens on 1 November!

Since my return from a three month trip to escape our winter, my number one newly-opened restaurant on my list to visit in the Cape was SŸN, the pop-up having opened whilst I was away, and headed by Chefs Rikku Ó’DonnchĂź and Warwick King, formerly of GĂĽte restaurant at Quoin Rock. The one-day special Heritage Day Menu (at R690) was the perfect opportunity to taste and see what these two creative chefs and their team have come up with since setting up on their own, initially as a Pop-up before they open their new restaurant on 1 November.
