FitBit a fabulous fitness tool and motivation, discovering my health and fitness with Discovery!

I have not been fitness-conscious in many years, but in preparation for my Camino walk, I decided to invest in a FitBit, a watch that not only tells the date and time, but also provides information about one’s activity in terms of steps and kilometers covered, calories burned, and one’s heart rate. Dals Express Sweet and Europcar Sour Service Awards!

Dals ExpressThe Sweet Service Award goes to Dals Express ‘Auto Body Repair Centre‘ in Montague Gardens, and its manager Conrad Wiegersma, for the professional and caring service my car and I received when I handed it in for a two-day repair of a small scratch.  Despite being promised the repair within two days telephonically, Conrad wanted to play it safe and have the car for an extra day, but I needed it back. Conrad and his team managed to have the repair done within 24 hours of it being dropped off, and gave the car a deep-clean valet, so that it looked as good as new (after 8 years) when I went to collect it! Gage Car Hire (with Execuline and I&DRS) Sweet Service and Europcar Sour Service Awards!

Gage Car HireThe Sweet Service Award goes to Gage Car Hire, a Johannesburg-based company specialising in car rental replacements for cars going into repair via insurance claims, and with it Execuline car insurance, the assessors, as well as our brokers I&DRS.  Belinda Jonker at Gage Car Hire assisted in a problem situation with Europcar, and quickly made the deposit payment for the car hire happen without numerous pieces of paper to be completed, as requested by Europcar, taking the card details telephonically for the deposit.   Belinda kept me up to date throughout the process.  The insurance policy did not require an excess payment for the repair, and there was no charge for the car rental!

EuropcarThe Sour Service Award goes to Europcar, the company that was appointed by Gage Car Hire to deliver a replacement car while my car was in for the repair.   There had been no prior contact with Europcar, as the communication had been between Europcar and Gage.  When Jeremy arrived, he demanded immediate payment of the deposit via the credit card machine he had brought along, without going through the paperwork, or explaining the clauses and conditions.   He couldn’t explain the waiver clauses, and was so irritated that he drove off with the car. John from Europcar returned with the car an hour later, after Gage Car Hire had intervened and done the deposit payment reducing the paperwork Continue reading →
