It has become a tradition for me to predict the Top 10 Eat Out Restaurant Awards, held at GrandWest later today. This year the Top 10 Award prediction is particularly difficult, as Eat Out has changed its procedure yet again, announcing a Top 30 Finalist List for the Awards this year! Restaurant Review 2: Pot Luck Club Tapas Bar & Eatery food disappoints, service excellent!
On Monday evening a friend and I ate dinner at Pot Luck Club in the Biscuit Mill, it being one of very few quality restaurants which are open on Monday evenings. He challenged me to leave my note book at home, to just enjoy the evening, and to have fun. Shock ranking on 51-100 World’s 50 Best Restaurants list, South Africa drops out of Top 50 list!
It was a shock to see today that none of our country’s top restaurants have made the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list, with both The Test Kitchen and La Colombe named today in the 51 – 100 ranking list, announced a week ahead of the 2017 World’s 50 Best Restaurant ceremony in Melbourne next Wednesday! When I saw a link on Facebook to an article ‘10 Best Restaurants in Cape Town 2017′ I was intrigued enough to read it. I found it an interesting reflection of restaurant and chef politics, in that ’14 of SA’s top chefs‘ fed back where ‘they go for a bite when they are not whipping up feasts in their own kitchens’.
