Sweet Service Award goes to Olive Branch Deli; Sour Service Award to Vodacom!

The Sweet Service Award goes to Olive Branch Deli and its co-owner Omeros Demetriou, for his advice in guiding me in the decision to buy a Yoco credit card machine, which I have used on numerous occasions as a customer in their Deli. Omeros even called Yoco on my behalf, to check the paperwork requirements, and stock availability. I went to Yoco on Shortmarket Street later in the afternoon, and within an hour I was set up with a credit card machine. Olive Branch Deli is a great ambassador for Yoco! Continue reading →

Cape Town water challenge and Day Zero: We will survive!

I was recently asked if I would be leaving the country on Day Zero, projected to be 16 April currently, something that had never crossed my mind! It appears that a large number of locals are making plans to leave Cape Town, and reside elsewhere in our country or internationally, where they will have access to water! Sweet Service Award goes to MAC cosmetics; Sour Service Award goes to Uber!

The Sweet Service Award goes to MAC cosmetics in the V&A Waterfront, and its assistant manager Kerry Trainer. I wanted to buy my favorite lipstick and gave her the name of the colour, only to be told that the colour has been discontinued, something which happens so often in cosmetics. She said she could have the stock room checked for any last lipsticks in this colour, if I could wait for a while. I returned and was irritated that the person fetching the lipsticks still had not returned to the shop. When I returned a second time, the lipstick had arrived, plus a sample one, which Kerry offered me for free, due to the colour being discontinued. She offered to look for more of the lipstick colour at other branches, and called me back, to tell me that she had found five for me at Cavendish Square, and that they would keep them for me until I could collect them.  Continue reading →

Sweet Service Award goes to Tanur Jewelers! Sour Service Award goes to Kamaldien Jewelers!

The Sweet Service Award goes to Tanur Jewellery in the V&A Waterfront, where I not only found a tanzanite eternity ring, after a long struggle to find the perfect match with my other tanzanite rings, but also enjoyed excellent Service, in having the ring enlarged. The ring was finished before the promised time, and I was called, to invite me to collect it. It was accompanied with a certificate, unlike my poor experience at Kamaldien Jewelers, also in the Waterfront.  Continue reading →
