Cape Philharmonic Orchestra Sweet Service and MyCiTi Bus Sour Service Awards!

Cape Philharmonic OrchestraThe Sweet Service Award goes to the Cape Philharmonic Orchestra for its 100 years of delighting lovers of classic music and for bringing in international artists as well as conductors.  The Orchestra receives no financial support from the City of Cape Town, to reflect what a treasure it is for our city, and is dependent ion handouts from the Lotto and income generated through its concerts.

My CiTi Bus imagesThe Sour Service Award goes to the MyCiTi Bus ticket office in Gardens, and its staff member Martin Thabe, who took half an hour on Saturday 5 April to assist a small number of passengers to purchase their cards or to top them up.  In my instance, I had to enter 1111 as well as my PIN 5 times, because he forgot to tell me to press the green button after entering the PIN.  He refused to say ‘please’ when he instructed me to follow his numerous instructions, and he blamed the ‘system‘ for being inadequate to deal with the transactions.  I had to beg for a receipt of the card purchase, which he did not issue proactively!  The slow service caused a new phenomenon of ‘MyCiTi Bus rage‘, two commuters being beside themselves with anger in having to wait so long, and fighting about their places in the queue!  There was no response to the slow service from MyCiTI Bus after it was reported on Twitter!  There was no manager nor security on duty, to protect the commuters against other outraged passengers!
