Charlotte Rhys Sweet Service and MyCiTi Bus Sour Service Awards!

Charlotte RhysThe Sweet Service Award goes to Sheryl at Charlotte Rhys, who offered to replace seven of their Room Spray bottles at no charge, when I asked to pass on the feedback to the owners of the company that the bottle for this fragrance type falls and breaks easily, being so light in its manufacture as well as its content.

My CiTi Bus imagesThe Sour Service Award goes to the MyCiTi Bus, for its continued problems to the detriment of its commuters, as reported in the Weekend Argus.  The buses on the Table View route to and from the Civic Centre appear to be overloaded, do not keep to the time schedule, and there are problems with MyConnect cards.  Commuters air their frustration and complaints on Facebook, Twitter, and on the local service complaint website Hellopeter.com. The addition of Du Noon to the Table View route appears to be the cause of the bus-overloading, which arrive already full at Table View headed for the City.  Previously the Table View commuters were happy with the service.  The City’s eight 18 meter and thirty 12 meter buses appear to not be enough to cope with the demand.  A driver said that overloading is the biggest problem: ‘The service is going down, it is poor now and not the same at all. It is because they don’t care about the passengers at all’.  The driver says that more 21 meter buses are required to cope with the demand.  At times the bus has more than 100 passengers, making the driving difficult and dangerous for the drivers too. Drivers are said to be ‘bombarded with complaints and queries every day‘.  In the article Brett Herron, City of Cape Town Mayoral Committee Member for Transport, is quoted as saying that the commuter feedback reflected ‘teething problems’, which would be addressed.

  1. Brett Herron is a clown. He epitomises the useless, power hungry, ivory tower dweller that makes the man on the street hate politicians so much. All his inaction is doing is creating another vehicle for protests to occur. Can you imagine when the Khayelitsha and beyond route rolls out and this sort of thing occurs. The N2 is going to be permanently closed with protests. On top of that it is costing businesses money with people beinglate for work, screwing up productivity. It is dangerous for them to use the buses and it is only a matter of time before a major accident happens that is going to cost people their lives. Then you can bet the finger is going to be pointed at the operators and not at the politicians. I for one have stopped using the bus because frankly even the cost of using my car and paying petrol and parking trumps the inconvenience and danger of the bus.

    • Thank you for sharing your point of view Sarel.

Bottom line: the City of Cape Town is a municipality and not a corporate business! Their lack of response to complaints on Twitter or on this blog reflects how non-customer orientated they are!
