Wednesday 22 April 2020; Day 38 of SA Corona Virus, Day 27 of SA Lockdown 😷
Corona Gratitude 🙏
#Grateful for another warm sunny day; for living in such a lovely spot; for meeting such lovely locals as they walk past my home, or on the way to the shops; for being able to make old-fashioned long phone calls to each other, there being no time restriction; for being able to walk to the shops, despite not finding what I wanted, but being able to order; for asserting myself in an unpleasant matter regarding our apartment portfolio management company; for feeling much better today after being down after The Speech last night, my first low since Lockdown, realizing that no matter what long and hard road lies ahead we have a lot to be grateful for; for receiving a Discovery Vitality Gameboard play with a reasonably good score; for cleaning out a shelf I couldn’t reach without standing on a chair and finding a stash of chocolates which I had hidden from myself…. 😱; for dancing to Kfm around my couch all day 💃; and for being fit and healthy. 🙏💙
I was really depressed today after The Speech last night, and even worse so when I read the vastly negative reaction to it, it creating more anxiety and uncertainty. I saw its effect on my Resting Heart Rate this morning, increasing from 56 to 58! 🥵
I will always associate this date with my Mutti’s birthday. I am so grateful that she forced my Sub A teacher to accept me into her English class (which is how I met my longest-standing friend Jenny Stephens) when I couldn’t speak a word of English, and for forcing me to speak German correctly at home, which has helped me so much in my careers as guest house owner and Tourist Guide. ❤️
In honour of my mom, a good baker and cook, I wanted to make Apple pancakes, even though it wasn’t pancake weather. So I had to get onto the chair to check if the top shelf of the kitchen cupboard had any flour or baking powder. None of these, but that’s when I found the chocolates…. oi vey 😱
So I had to go to the shops to find the missing pancake ingredients, but someone else was on a baking spree and beat me to it, buying out the whole Pick n Pay baking department. No cinnamon to be found in both stores either, so the pancakes will have to wait.
I starting writing tomorrow’s Blogpost, but I can’t sit still in the afternoons when the music on Kfm is so good. I haven’t learnt to dance and write yet, even though I can read the endless What’s Apps I receive while I dance/walk. And then a lovely loooong chat with Jenny, she cheering me up. ❤️

The Corona Virus Lockdown, announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier this week to commence on 27 March and to continue until 16 April, and subsequently extended to 30 April, is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
