Friday 31 December 2021, New Years Eve, Day 92 of Level 1 😷

Corona Lockdown Gratitude 🙏

#grateful for a most wonderful day, mainly spent at home working; for warm at 21 C; for being able to give Gift a Care Pack gift of personal care products provided by Councillor Nicola Jowell – Ward 54; for getting my iPhone facial recognition set up again and Standard Bank’s Sea Point branch helping me to get my App to accept the new face photograph, quite a complicated story but a good security feature, it appearing that I must have had a bad hair night, in that my phone did not recognize me this morning when I needed to buy electricity 😱, the Branch Bank Manager personally assisting me, with Tracy; for Gift cleaning up litter in different Camps Bay spots; for photographing diners at Zest arriving for New Years Eve as well as George Sax our DJ and saxophonist for the evening; for photographing New Years Eve diners at Utopia, loving the electric dress of the electronic violinist, and meeting lovely loyal clients; for a lovely New Year’s Eve dinner of about 15 guests at the home of new Swedish swallow friends Tommy and Nicholas Fjord,
meeting new persons, and with Gary Peterson, BG as well as Terri Therese Kallie there too; for champagne to toast the new 2022 year, seeing the Beam of Hope lighting up the sky from within the Waterfront; and a number of fireworks in Green Point, where we partied; for a lovely introduction of some of us present, a pity that we did not complete the circle; for a lovely dinner prepared by Nicholas and Tommy, the latter only flying in from Sweden this afternoon; for returning to Zest, getting the tail end of the celebration evening, enjoying a whiskey there and being able to take a whole bunch of balloons home with me; for no roadblocks on the way home; and for being happy, healthy and free, blessed with such a fabulous evening. 🙏💙

I felt that we had to do a last clean up today in Camps Bay before the New Year.

Gift cleaned

1. The Nature Reserve below the High School, Victoria Road from 4th Beach to Maidens Cove, The Beach Front and Barley Bay, filling 15 bags. There were very full bins between 4th Beach and Maidens Cove

2. Based on resident feedback, we went to clean at (another 5 bags filled):

#. Ravensteyn Road Bus stop
#. Prima Road Bus stop
#. Parking at view stop on Camps Bay Drive, with huge amounts of litter, mostly removed, and mostly coming from one green bin having lost its lid
#. The steps between Camps Bay Drive and First Crescent.

I’ll complete the pic captions in the morning

The Corona Virus Lockdown (Level 5), announced by our President Cyril Ramaphosa earlier to commence on 27 March 2020 and to continue until 16 April, subsequently extended to 30 April, lowered to Level 4 from 1 May, lowered to Level 3 from 1 June, lowered to Level 2 from 18 August, lowered to Level 1 from 21 September, and moved back to Adjusted Level 3 from 29 December,  extended to 15 February on 11 January 2021, extended but relaxed on 1 February, and relaxed back to Level 1 on 1 March 2021, moved back to Adjusted Level 2 on 31 May, moved back to level 3 on 16 June, and moved back to Adjusted Level 4 on 28 June, extended by two weeks on 11 July,  returned to Level 3 on 26 July, returned to Level 2 on 13 September, and returned to Level 1 on 1 October is an unprecedented event in my lifetime. I am posting my daily Facebook post to journal this Corona Lockdown Journey, perhaps to serve as material for a future Book.
