The global Paul Bakery – Café chain is to open in our country by the end of next year, its first store planned for Johannesburg.
In a deal signed with Famous Brands, it was announced today that the 120 year-old French bakery chain, with ‘chic stores’ in 41 countries in Europe, Africa, Asia, America, and the Middle East, would add South Africa to its list. In its 400 bakery outlets in France alone it serves 5 million customers a month! Five stores are planned for our country initially, to open in the next five years, in a ten-year deal.
Famous Brands’ CEO Kevin Hedderwick said about the deal: ‘This partnership is the culmination of a two-year courtship between Famous Brands and Paul. For some time, it has been the group’s stated intent to enhance the contribution of our premium-end portfolio, and therefore we are particularly delighted to add the brand of the stature of Paul to our existing elite brand bouquet. The patron loyalty factor is extraordinary; we look forward to generating similar enthusiasm for the brand in this country’.
