I am always amused when Harbour House Group founder Michael Townsend tells me that he does not know how many restaurants are in his Group, many operating, and others still in the process of being built or
finished off. Meeting him for an update chat at Villa 47 last night I counted that he has 11 operating restaurants and 13 restaurants set to open, a total of 24 restaurants.
We went through each of his brands, and listed the status of each restaurant per brand:
# Harbour House:
*Kalk Bay
*V&A Waterfront : hot kitchen to be built upstairs, with cocktail bar, as well as refurbishment planned for downstairs
*Johannesburg (site search underway)
*Constantia Nek (construction recommences shortly)
# Tiger’s Milk
*Century City (opens next week)
*Bryanston (900 m², opens in August)
*Kloof Street (a Smokehouse, former Emily space, opens in September)
*Sanclare Building, Claremont (opens in August)
*Melville, Johannesburg (site search)
*Stellenbosch (opens in August)
*Dubai (site search)
*Muizenberg
*Kalk Bay
*Kenilworth (opens in May)
*Sea Point, Regent Road (Lucky Fish to be transformed in winter)
# Live Bait
*Muizenberg (photograph above)
*Kalk Bay
# La Parada
*Bree Street
*Kalk Bay
*Constantia Nek (construction recommences soon)
# Lucky Fish
*Kalk Bay
*Muizenberg
#. The Grand
*Camps Bay (new name not yet confirmed, opening planned for September)
Michael Townsend’s Harbour House Group is the fastest growing non-franchise restaurant portfolio in our city! The expansion is likely to continue unabated.
