Inner Secrets Sweet Service and Woolworths Sour Service Award!

The Sweet Service Award goes to Inner Secrets, retailers of lingerie and swimming costumes. Following the launch of the Online Retail Service and celebration of the 8th anniversary of the Cavendish Square branch last week, I discovered the Sea Point branch. Maureen assisted me in obtaining garments from other branches, and displayed care and concern. Very kindly Inner Secrets allowed the 25% discount voucher for the online retail service, which we had received at the launch, to be used for my purchase at the store.

The Sour Service Award goes to Woolworths at St John’s Piazza in Sea Point, for two poor staff related issues two days apart, earlier this week. On the first shopping occasion I needed the assistance of a supervisor at the payment tills, as Service had got stuck in the Speed Queue tills, but there was no supervisor on the floor at the Food Hall tills. Two days later I had a cappuccino at the WCafé in the same branch, and was annoyed with ten staff members having long loud chats right next to my table, there being no customers nearby for them to attend to. I asked for a supervisor to assist me, and received no response from the staff, other than a staff member pointing a finger at another staff member, who blatantly walked away from the area. It appeared that she was the supervisor! A customer (whom I did not know) had observed what had happened, and was incensed by this disrespectful Service. She waited with me until Food Manager Marshall could be called from a meeting, and my experience could be shared with him. He appeared shocked, as the supervisor is a senior staff member at the branch. While Marshall apologized, it just wasn’t good enough that the Food Hall till Service is so poor!
