The Sweet Service Award goes to La Parada Constantia Nek, which raised R385000 for DARG, to assist in care for the animals affected by the recent fire at Imizamo Yethu in Hout Bay, as well as for Fire Extinguisher Balls, by means of a dinner and charity auction last Saturday. The fire in the township destroyed 3500 homes and left about 15000 residents homeless.
The Sour Service Award goes to Primedia, for the poor service I received from the switchboard as well as from Sharon Nkabinde, PA to the new CEO Omar Essack, when I tried to reach him. The PA was rude, put down the phone a number of times, and did not pass on my message to her boss! It did not help that it was a Friday afternoon. I received the CEO’s email address, wrote to him, and then received a call from Trish Taylor, General Manager of Primedia Cape Town. Later in the afternoon the CEO called, and apologized for his PA’s rude behavior. It was a comedy of errors to get through to the CEO’s office, both the Cape Town and Johannesburg offices of Primedia not being sure who he is.
