La Colombe has announced the name of its new restaurant at Le Quartier Français in Franschhoek, as well as its opening date.

La Petite Colombe is set to open at Le Quartier Français, now belonging to the Leeu Collection, on 1 August. The new restaurant will take over the space of the former iconic The Tasting Room, which has closed down permanently following the departure of its Chef Margot Janse.

Chef John Norris-Rogers has been appointed as the Head Chef at La Petite Colombe, and will work with La Colombe Chefs Scot Kirton and James Gaag to marry the two restaurants, giving the new restaurant the same La Colombe magic. Chef John has been working in the La Colombe kitchen for the past year.  We experienced the quality of La Colombe earlier this year, as well as last year:

La Petite Colombe will offer 8-course and 12-course Tasting Menus, serving fine local and seasonal produce paired with rare and fine wines. 

The interior design of La Petite Colombe is in the hands of architect Rohan Young and Beverley Boswell, who is the Leeu Collection interior designer. The media statement describes the design approach of the restaurant as ‘classic, with a modern-country accent’.
