The Sweet Service Award goes to Pigalle, whose manager Warren answered the phone, and my questions regarding their Winter Specials so efficiently, being a good listener, and answering to the point! I was shocked at how poorly restaurant phone calls are answered, especially those linked to hotels, when I made calls to more than 100 restaurants for their Restaurant Winter Specials information in the last week!
The Sour Service Award goes to HQ Restaurant, whose Manager Alan was exceptionally rude when I called the restaurant to check their Winter Specials. I had called, and he answered the phone, with the answering machine beeping when I called, and I had to call again. He then answered as ‘Headquarter‘, but so indistinctly that I had to ask him if I had got through to HQ. He insisted that it was ‘Headquarter’ I had reached, even though the branding on the website and outside on the building says ‘HQ’ (one wonders how much business they lose through this?). I asked him if the restaurant has any Specials, and he said no, none on Wednesdays. I had not mentioned Wednesdays at all, and had called on Monday! As I could not understand much of what he said, and he clearly could not understand my English, I asked if there was someone else I could speak to with whom the communication could be easier. He told me I was rude, and that he was the only one I could speak to. We finally battled through the Specials they have. Alan has a major chip on his shoulder, pardon the pun, and is not an asset to HQ!
