For the first time ever we are awarding a double Sour Service Award today, both linked to April Fools’ Day last week!
The first Sour Service Award goes to The New Age, for reporting on 4 April about the Western Cape Government April Fools’ Day prank of its officials being issued with remotes to change the red traffic lights to green as if it was fact! The reporter was Vincent Cruywagen!
The second Sour Service Award goes to Atlantic Seaboard Councillor Jacques Weber, for his weak attempt at trying to write an April Fools’ Day ‘official’ announcement on Facebook, announcing that the palm trees on Beach Road will be removed to offer a better view, written in poor grammar and not proofread! I wrote a comment to this effect, and was attacked and disparaged by the Councillor, a most unprofessional response!
The WhaleTales Sweet & Sour Service Awards are presented every Friday on the WhaleTales blog. Nominations for the Sweet and Sour Service Awards can be sent to Chris von Ulmenstein at whalecot@iafrica.com. Past winners of the Sweet and Sour Service Awards can be read on the Friday posts of this blog.
